Support for FCFS housing in 6.1

No thanks, I'd like to have a chance at owning a house and getting access to the exclusive housing features. I don't want to miss out on housing because I didn't wake up at 4am or sit around clicking a sign for 12 hours.

Guessing you've only read the title? OP is asking for a few wards to be using the FCFS system, not for the entire new housing area to use the FCFS system. A few wards won't suddenly cause you to miss out on participating in the lottery system.

I think it's fair to have a few wards using the FCFS, with the majority using the lottery system. Means the people who want to, can try their hand at a housing rush. Meanwhile, the rest can just enter the lottery on one of the many lottery plots.
Either way, the forums will still end up getting flooded with complaints. The only difference being that most of them will be about RNG, rather than others being faster.

There's your issue. The moment housing becomes available, the housing bots get RIGHT ON IT like moths to a flame. I've seen them straight teleport to the place right when it's been opened, and they've been able to snatch it up before any other player can get to it.

While a housing rush was a natural thing since Shirogane opened up, I'm full support for the Lottery System that their team has made. The Lottery System also heavily taxes bots in the fact that it's at a major operating loss for the person handling his army of bots, so it helps make it that much harder for them to just steal the plot outright and try to sell it via RMT.

Your post makes it sound like the system can only be FCFS or the lottery system. Meanwhile, Yoshi-P himself has stated that the team can customize each plot on what system is used to purchase it.
As for the issue on housing bots, that's just something the players in favor of having a few FCFS housing wards will have to contend with. Meanwhile, the majority of the wards would still be using the lottery system.

I've seen this kind of behaviour on a lot of posts, especially some I made in the past. People can't seem to grasp that not everything is binary and completely miss the point entirely. That said I am completely in favour of not having FCFS come back. I was there when it was in Shirogane and trying to log in within 3 minutes of the servers coming up was a nightmare of lobby errors and long queues before I finally got in the game to only find 1 unclaimed house throughout the whole of my server, half the ones people in my FC had their eyes set on that were close to the FC house were snapped up by bots and were unoccupied for months. FCFS is only giving houses to bots and house flippers. There won't be any choice of FCFS and lottery for buyers when there are no houses on FCFS wards to buy as soon as the servers open.

Ok, you were there with the new housing issues back in Stormblood. But I don’t hear you saying anything about the FCFS in 5.2 when 3 wards per city was open up.

Either you already had a house and didn’t care, or you not talking about THERE WAS NO ISSUES, NO LONG IN QUEUE, NO SERVER ERRORS, EVERYTHING RAN CLEAN.

SE learned from the issues in the past and made sure there were no issues when everything came up in 5.2.

So now that it has been proven that there will be no issues, what are you going to bring up next? It isn’t like we are asking for 21 of the 24 wards to be FCFS, we are only asking for some wards…6 would be great, but we can live with 3 wards or 12.5% of the total of Ishgard housing.

When and how was this proven? Because from all I've read, the current system has been an issue for quite awhile... which is why the majority is asking for ALL wards to be lottery.

When and where? If you “READ” something that is still an issue, hopefully you can quote it so we can let SE know there is still an issue out there that needs fix. Could you please post what you read?

The only issue that I am aware of is Bots and people clicking on all hours of the day and night to a buy a house. I haven’t heard or read of any log on/server issues. Besides the Endwalker release that had thousands of players wanting to log on at one time, there isn’t anything like those Stormblood issues of 4 1/2 years ago.

It is binary, there are a finite number of houses and there are nowhere near enough for everyone who wants one. Any wards split up into FCFS to cater to people who specifically want that system are wards and houses not available to the Lottery system. It's not advocating for FCFS in addition, it's asking for wards to be removed from the more fair lottery system so that a few people can have a better shot at getting a house personally.

Any still using the FCFS system in my opinion is too much. The system punishes people who have commitments outside of this game or who live in north america and can't get up at 3am to try to be the first to get to a plot.
As others have said too, there is a problem with FCFS allowing players to attempt to rush a house and if they don't get it, also enter lotteries afterwards.

All Lottery is the way to go, it's the most fair system that allows everyone to have an equal shot instead of unfairly punishing certain types of players or certain regions. There's no benefit to FCFS over it.

Which is why the majority of the plots would still be using the lottery system. Having a few wards be FCFS keeps both groups happy.

Kind of irrelevant, as the lotteries will get flooded with entries anyway. Especially on servers that are currently listed as congested.

As for the third party launcher/login issues, there's always the option of enabling plot purchases 1 hour after servers go live. Although this still makes it a game of who can click things faster.
