I'm starting to wonder if there's something fundamentally special about our/Azem's soul in particular after recalling how Hythlodaeus mentions that the Ancients trapped within Zodiark lacked clarity of mind specifically until we arrived on the moon, then Hydaelyn/Venat later mentions that we have a curious quality of attracting souls to us.

It could have something to do with our particular manifestation of the Echo, but it wouldn't surprise me if we ended up having some deeper connection to the Lifestream or Etheriys itself; especially given how there seemed to be some bigger problem at hand only Azem was aware of.

By extension, if Zenos' avatar really does end up being our 13th shard and a problem that needs to be dealt with in the 6.x series, rejoining with it might end up kindling an awareness of that something that could play into 7.0's plot.

I can't quote if this is anything other than what's going on in my head...but I was lead to believe the ancients were "leaking out" as Zodiark's bindings were weakened (5/6 broken at that point), not so much because we were there.

Didn't see anyone mention it, but I wouldn't be surprised if ffxiv story going forward has something to do with whatever happens in FFXVI. If not directly consequential, then probably some references or backstory that fills in things missing in XIV lore.

It could be a completely stand-alone story, or ... maybe not ?

Yeah, that's always seemed a really weird link for them to try and make when they had made no attempt to link the the worlds of the 2 games

Per the ultimania the kid Shinra (or his descendants) from10-2 found a way to travel off planet... landed on 7's planet and whoever was with him started populating it. There was something mentioned during the original game of 7 where Sephiroth called cloud and them traitors and Ilfana made mention of how in the past non Cetra came to the the planet, or so made it seem, and started breeding with the Cetra.

Given that we still don't know what happened to the Heart of Sabik after repeated assurance that it was going to resurface, I'm kind of hoping it ended up falling into the hands of one of the rogue Garlean legions who's been playing a long game and developing some kind of superweapon they had been meaning to use as a trump card in a bid for supremacy over the capital and Ilsabard as a whole.

Though I'm mostly just hoping this business with the remaining legions doesn't just blow over easily and we potentially spend the next expansion trying to sort out a lingering threat posed by the stubborn Garleans clinging to the old ways with the aid of the more progressive ones who want peace.
