Tell that a WAR who has a cleave attack as first AOE gcd and the healer who runs away in panic with the mob or just stand still while you, as a tank, ran to grab the 2nd group of adds.

Regens makes it more stressful for tanks and that's why I click them off.

My solution while leveling WAR was to Provoke the mobs as soon as I can, then by the time they are within range the cone AOE usually hits all of them, sometimes if unlucky(or targeting one off to the side rather than the middle one), you may miss one or two...and then it's on the healer/DPS if they don't bring it to you when you finish gathering the pull.

Casual Reminder that /statusoff macro can be a thing rather than manually clicking things off.

for example
/statusoff "Regen"
/statusoff "Medica II"
/statusoff "Whispering Dawn"
etc.

All can be put in one macro, macro only removes specified buffs if they're applied, and macro does not generate error messages if the buff cannot be removed (if it is not applied)

Sprint if used correctly allows Tanks to out distance the melee range and casting range of most trash during pulls. Regens, IMO, more often create aggro table issues on subsequent packs in a pull than doing any actual help. If the tank is sprinting properly then the regen ticks are just overhealing.

I was fresh in the game - What is a tank? I just selected WAR because big axe. My first time playing an MMO like FFXIV and I was on PS4, typing was difficult on controller.

I was so hopelessly lost in Dzemael Darkhold. I had zero clue what I was doing.
The party I was in did not abandon me though. They so very helpful. It still took us forever to finish the dungeon but I really appreciate they people who helped me out. How you guys are doing well where ever you are!

A more recent one I did experience was in Dusk Vigil - final boss the giant eagle.
Me: Please get hide behind stone
Party of Sprouts proceeds to not hide behind stone through out the encounter.
Me the healer proceeds to cry for my MANA.

Was SGE'ing Castrum.... Now I know what happens if the tanks leave the two huge guys untouched outside Livia's area and proceed to fight her.

After the canon phase when you flip to fight her properly, the wall comes down and they come inside to join the fight.

Oh boy, spicy. We had a pretty awesome RDM though helping there.

(That's the second Castrum run too where the stunnable boss has been dragged allllllllll the way to the exit of that area rather than being tanked on the ramp)

OMG when I run a dungeon as a tank I pray I get a White Mage that heals rather then DPS. In fact, it makes the dungeon run so much smoother with people commenting about how happy they are. Of course, if I as a tank witness a Healer being harassed due to them healing doing their job I of course defend my healer and depending on how that goes a Vote To Kick might come next for Harassment of my Healer.

Although I mainly tank (all four tank jobs at lvl 80 at the moment) I have leveled every other job in the game until lvl 50 at least so that I could have a better understanding of the whole game before moving forward. I thought it would help me get better at tanking and, surprise, it did. That's mainly the reason why I don't understand why some people are so close minded about some things in the game.

The main job as a healer is to keep everybody alive. Once that primary job is covered you gain absolutely nothing by standing there doing nothing, whereas you can help your party to get through better if you do some damage. This is basic common sense: nobody is in danger to die -> I don't need to heal now -> might as well throw some AOE's or something. For some reason some people does not understand this an believe we want them to stop healing when healing is required, or that they are expected to play optimally squeezing every bit of DPS they can possibly dish out. No, that's not the point. We ask you to at least give it a try when you feel healing is not required. Depending on the experience and comfort levels of each one this means that some healers will not DPS unless everyone's HP bar is full, which is fine by me, some others will keep on doing DPS until the next mechanic might kill someone, which is fine by me too, and some of them will risk too much and sometimes cause a wipe, which is fine by me as well, they just need to find their comfort level. Just try it, it is not hard at all. As I said, there is no need to be close minded about it.

I understand you cannot tell the moment we load in how experience I am as a healer.

- You have no idea if I can handle big pulls yet
- You have no idea if I can cycle through my CDs
- You have no idea if I know what my oGCDs are and how to use them
- You have no idea if I'm a "Benefic 1 trying to fish for Crit-Bene 2" AST
- You have no idea if I'm having an off day today due to being tired
- You have no idea if I have been playing this game since Shb and not a recently new subscriber
- You have no idea if I have been playing MMOs for X years
- You have no idea if I have been playing the healing role for X years
- You have no idea if I am trying AST for the first time
- You have no idea if I boosted myself to 80 and am gearing things at 90
- You have no idea if I have Savage or EX or Ultimate experience

I get that. I do. But I also tank on the side.
This character you see as my portrait has DRK to 80 (because I ain't getting it to 90 until they fix LD at least) and GNB to 90.
I have 2 alts who also have GNB 70+, one of those two alts with DRK 70+, another alt with WAR and just WAR 70+, and another alt with all 4 tanks at 50.

I do big pulls on all of them.

If my healer can't handle it, I switch to smaller pulls. If it is a spicy dungeon or if I am feeling unsure of my healer I'll ask if they want big or small pulls.

Please give me that same courtesy.
