Most if not all the buildings and towers in it are simply solid blocks or empty shells made up to look like actual buildings.

And, as the ending to ShB stated, those incantations are not everlasting, they will eventually start to wind down and so the glamour will vanish (although gameplay wise this is guaranteed never to occur).

Not to mention as EW has showed, it wasn't an entirelly accurate rendition of what the real Amaurot was like 12000 years ago, but instead more an idealized 'theme park' version, most notably with how the Ancients themselves were depicted. So alas a housing area for it is not possible.

Hence instead I'm hoping we'll see more future content in the actual Unsundered World, which hopefully may even include a visit to the real Amaurot (and who knows, maybe housing may be possible there). But I'm just making a lot of wish assumptions so don't mind me.

Emet-Selch literally invited to WoL to LIVE there until the WoL becomes completely consumed by the light. Based on the lore it makes more sense to get housing there than not get housing there.

As much as I understand the appeal and also dream of it, another part of me think that a housing ward would destroy the mood and purpose of Amaurot. It's a place with a fleeting feeling of sadness and longing of past memories, going back to this area as it is still captures this perfectly. A housing ward with chocobo houses and whatnot would lessen the lasting impression, from my humble opinion.
Rather, I'd love to have more Amaurot/Unsundered world related furnitures and possibly house wall. WoLs being able to craft things they saw other there would be a more poetic way to appreciate and have a keepsake of the past world.

I agree with this. Amaurot's beauty is in fact, the stillness of it. However, windows, walls, flooring options all seem more appropriate options to bring "Amaurot" home. We have seen this with other items from the First, so wouldn't think this would be a stretch or break immersion as it would to have ACTUAL housing in Amaurot.

While i’m not really here nor there for this idea, wouldn’t this kind of be the same if day we got crystarium housing or garlemald housing?

Emet was also disappointed at how un-sin-eatery we were by the time we got there. I don't think he was expecting us to need an apartment.

To varying degrees, yes – but neither of them are currently in the running beyond fans asking for them.

Still, the Crystarium is only a spoiler for the basic premise of Shadowbringers, not its climax, and Garlemald... I can't really see us getting housing there. I think if they ever did do Garlean housing it would be set somewhere away from the ruined capital entirely.

I wish they'd do more with apartments. I don't see why they need to be coupled directly to a housing district. Apartments could be placed in different cities not currently supporting a ward housing area. Furthermore these could be modified versions including different size options which would be wonderful.

Is the argument for this still going on? I remind you all, Amaurot is the site of a MASS GRAVE. Good GOD, I want housing as much as the rest of you but it is BEYOND TACTLESS to want to build over a mass grave. Give your heads a shake, people!

Before the issue of it being a grave, there's still the issue of it being the illusion of a city and not actually a functional city.

Also that, as much as the world is "on pause" for the practical life of the game, both the illusion and the air bubble are on limited time and the whole place will revert to being ruins in the depths of the ocean. Not a smart place to build a house.

The magicks woven into making Amaurot are temporary, as is the bubble created by Bismark. The story states that in time the city and the bubble will fade away. It's also based on Emet-Slech's memories, so all the NPCs residing there are living in the moment before the Final Days and have no concept of knowing they're in the future nor that they are merely recreations based on memory, apart from Hythlodaeus's recreation who knows the truth. They think we're Amaurotine children visiting the capitol.
