Will We Ever Be Able To Fly Without A Mount

Only scanned but thought I'd give a counter idea. What if instead of flying without a mount, they just make a mount, like wings, that makes you fly. Bam! Problem on multiple sides solved. Just a mount with the illusion you are flying without one. This also would solve the abusive paradox some people would try to use if they could fly at any given moment.

This is what I would like. I was hoping that the pixie beast tribe would give you a mount that looked like their wings on your back. If they had made it a beast tribe max level reward, it would also increase the chance that it would show up a bit less since someone would need to level through Shadowbringers and compete the beast tribe questline. I definitely would prefer for it to be something that you earn.

I always have great hopes at the beginning of every expansion just for them to be shattered soon afterwards, I also wanted Pixie wings, I mean it's just the logical expectation but instead they came out with the porxies which are a joke ... when the pigs fly.


If the dev team added Pixie wings as a reward or any other highly desirable item I'm pretty sure everyone would rush to finish beast tribe content, I'm guessing not everyone cares about them.

I've just been thinking, wouldn't it pretty epic if we could fly without a mount.
I don't much about the lore implications of this, but is there a lore friendly method that Could work.

maybe this could work
we have things like angel wings, but what if maybe they where more then an accessory, maybe a range of different types of wings you can equip in a similar way to selecting a mount.

Well what do you think, do you have any other ideas and suggestions that might make this work.

Still sad as hell that the wings don't let you fly. They don't let you emote, either.

GW2 is an example of a system in which both personal wings (gliders) and flying mounts have been incorporated. Personal wings don't allow you to fly but do allow you to have a controlled descent. The flying mounts in that game have limited flight capabilities. The GW2 system though, does not appear to be compatible with FFXIV, either in terms of game mechanics or lore. Frankly, I think that the best anyone can hope for in FFXIV in the short term and perhaps even in the long term, is just to have wings as they currently are right now....fashion accessories.

Wings, Umbrella, Parasols, & Pixie Dust (ala Peter Pan) comes to my mind.

Considering we have mounts like a spinning jet turtle, a literal fat cat, and Final Form Wheelies I don't think we need a lore explanation for a wing "mount". The animations for flight are already in the game, and the wings have take-off and land animations.

Oh yeah that is a good point, shoot we have a flying BED and CHAIRS. being able to fly with wings would be awesome.
