Speculation - 6.X trial series

I haven't seen much discussion about this so I'm going to see what theories people have. The patch trial series over previous expansions has consistently been themed to a particular game:

* HW - Warring Triad (FF6)
* SB - Four Lords (FF Legend)
* ShB - Weapons (FF7)

It seems likely that EW's trials will similarly take inspiration from a single FF title.

I obviously am aware that the Four Fiends exist, but EW is already very laden with IV references and historically we have gotten a more varied spread of past FF content in each expansion. So I am wondering if we can brainstorm what other possible ideas are floating around.

Tataru's Misadventures: Trial 1
Tataru is trying to learn how to be an arcanist when her Carbuncle runs away yet again. She follows it into a mysterious cave where an unknown monster attacks her. Now it's up to us and our 7 friends to save her.


Also, I want another Gilgamesh trial as part of the upcoming Hildibrand storyline, this time with an extreme version of the fight.

Actually something like this seems probable for the trial questline. She already accompanied us on the Four Lords quests.

Also, I want another Gilgamesh trial as part of the upcoming Hildibrand storyline, this time with an extreme version of the fight.

I do think a proper Gilgamesh trial would be swell.

I'm still hoping for a 4 Fiends Trial series especially with FF4 references in EW

I can see them making Anima into a full-fledged trial fight.
As for other possibilities. I would like to see Asura or Lamia.
or even sticking to FFX perhaps a trial series based on the different Sinspawns from FFX or at least inspired by them.
Heck even some of the non sinspawn enemies could be interesting like Geosgaeno or Evrae Altana.

Given the release of Stranger in Paradise, they could do a trial series for the original Four Fiends - Lich, Marilith, Kraken, and Tiamat - though they'd have to alter at least one name.

Given the release of Stranger in Paradise, they could do a trial series for the original Four Fiends - Lich, Marilith, Kraken, and Tiamat - though they'd have to alter at least one name.

Two, really: Tiamat and Kraken. I was thinking about whether that would be an option and could even be directly tied into the Tiamat we already know. But that would still probably require finding some justification for bringing back Kraken from Sastasha/Hullbreaker.

I guess it's doable, but it would require a lot of writing gymnastics. But if done well I guess I wouldn't mind.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think of it, this may be one of the more likely options. When I look at what we have already gotten for extra trials and raid content, I see:

FFI:
FFII: Pandaemonium
FFIII: Crystal Tower
FFIV:
FFV: Omega
FFVI: Warring Triad
FFVII: Weapons
FFVIII: Eden
FFIX: Alexander
FFX:
FFXI: Eureka
FFXII: Dalmasca

So my best guess would be anything from FF I, IV, X, or XIII. And since EW already heavily features IV and X, I is almost the obvious choice by process of elimination (unless we are looking at forging into new territory with XIII/XV). It would also make for a pretty fitting capstone to the 10 year arc.

Also, looking at this list I would imagine we might eventually get some sort of Lunar Subterrane and/or Sin set of trials/raids.

I guess loosely, but I also kind of discount everything in ARR since the patch cycle formula really wasn't clearly defined at the time. And it feels weird trying to classify two Gilgamesh battles and an Ultros/Typhon battle as fitting the same mold as the expansions, which each dealt with sets of different high-level bosses from a specific title.
