Plus, it just causes stress to the login servers, as everyone tries to log in and go to the housing all at once as soon a servers are live, and makes login queues worse.
You're not getting any house under the lottery system.
You enter for one plot, lose that plot because there's hundreds of players rolling on it, then every other plot is simultaneously claimed because the lotteries on every plot ran concurrently.
    No more plots.

It's not going to make it any easier to get a house, it's just going to remove any first come first serve aspects.
No longer are you rewarded for your tenacity, there's nothing within your power you can do to get a house.

I've had 3 houses over the years too. Each one has been an opportune catch, on a vacant plot with no one else there. Completely fair, no one needed to harm themselves by camping out for 72 hours straight. It was something I scored on account of my own vigilance.
Now, no chance of a house ever again.

"No chance of a house", huh? So all those Empyreum houses will stay completely empty because no one can ever win a lottery. Right?

Or does that simply mean that everyone will now have an equal chance? And you won't have an advantage that increased your own chances?

I just realized something what prevents a person from making a ton of alt accounts making individual FCs and just bid on a house as FC and which ever alt wins you join that FC and transfer leadership to your main?

First-come first-serve encourages unhealthy behavior in order to succeed. Lottery is a much better system, and doesn't encourage unhealthy practices. Implement lottery for every house in the game. /thread

It's a more fair system. What you're freaking out about is the problem. There are way too many players who want a house for the number of houses available, so letting everyone who wants one sign up instead of it just being whoever's in the right discord or has the right plugins installed shows exactly how bad the problem is, and how many people want the gameplay features that only come from owning a house.
The solution is to massively increase the supply of houses available or allow for instanced housing but it seems like that is definitely not in the cards given the current priorities, so the only solution is to make it as fair as possible.

People who want the lottery are jaded due to the housing timers. I don't think they remember how easy it is to wake up for patch and just ...go buy a house. There's no timers, there's no killing yourself over placard clicking.

Unless you want a very specific plot and aren't the fastest at getting there, there should be relatively no issues in getting a house assuming you do the strenuous job of waking up on time.

This lottery system will only make it, on average, harder for an individual to get a house. It's a bandage solution for the problem of not having enough wards, and it's unfortunately something that'll likely have lasting negative effects on future implementations of new wards.

I’d just like to kindly ask that people thinking we are advocating for hours of placard clicking in this thread to please read some actual replies. No one is advocating for hours of placard clicking.

We are asking for some first come first serve wards in this very specific situation of an entirely new housing district being released (and perhaps in future releases where many wards are added to each housing district). Every other plot will be lottery, they’ve made this very clear. But when an entirely new district is released, I believe it is perfectly reasonable to ask for some wards to be first come first serve when the patch drops, whether it be for some people that want to try however they can for their first house or those specifically looking to relocate to THAT new housing district (keep in mind this is NOT taking away an extra plot since that old plot will be put back into the lottery). This will take maybe a half hour for people with the tenacity to try for a plot to know whether they got the house or not (give or take some time due to each server’s population differences), and is NOT the same as hours of clicking a placard with an invisible timer.

I understand a few people still do not like that suggestion. However, I am simply clarifying for those saying we are advocating for hours of placard clicking verses a lottery. And after reading the replies in this thread, it is clear that is NOT what we are asking for.

That still doesn't address the fact that if it were FCFS, you need to get up at ~4am on patch day to beat everyone else there including queues for login and for the instances, to get a house
That's still an unfair system and promotes people taking unhealthy measures to try to get an item in a video game. The FCFS system is bad and the lottery system is more fair for everyone.
Trying to frame it tenacity vs lazy people is a bunch of malarkey. You're not devoted or tenacious if you get up at 4am to be the first to log into an MMO, you're hopelessly addicted.

I remember all those houses in Kugane gone in less than 15 minutes when the server go live.

not every players could fit their daily life around server maintenace. Lottery give those who cant race to online a chance

It's ridiculous to suggest that it is somehow "unhealthy" or "addictive" to log it at a specific time to try for a plot. We'll have to agree to disagree.
