    They're unlikely to remove them but Yoshida did say in a separate interview beforehand that they've abandoned them. Basically, what we have now is how they'll stay. Which is a bit disappointing as I would have liked them to get upgraded over time.

    there are already NPC's we can do pre=ShB dungeons with. update THEM.
    also, while you're at it........make it so the squadron NPC's can be used in eureka/bozja, to make up for there being barely anyone ever there.

    Ugh I hate how squadrons are now. It's in desperate need of an update + they're useless other than some items.. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth that they've essential abandoned such an outdated system

    From a story perspective, the squadron characters are nonexistent, and personally I would much rather have dungeon companions who tie into the wider story in some way.

    The problem with that is they'd need at least a minimum of 3 people involved with every Duty that would go in with you, 4 if you don't have any role flexibility on the characters, because the trusts have to be able to form a regular party by themselves to accommodate every role.

    Working Squadrons into Trusts, they can easily start off the new players with a tank, a healer and 2 DPS. No need to start digging for NPCs to justify why they're going with you into the story dungeons (which for ARR would be Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak, Haukke Manor, Brayflox Longstop, Stone Vigil, Castrum CutscenumMeridianum, Praetorium, Snowcloak, Keeper of the Lake).

    I think the reason they want to develop Trusts farther is because they add to that single-player aspect that some people want. Plus they've been wanting to rid of content that barely gets queued for other than the rewards. They probably got tired of the compliments that the cutscenes take too long and people rushing it. And tbf, I'm glad they're doing it, Prae and Castrum are super dull and boring past the cutscenes.

    Though I hate the AI of Squadrons, they would have been cool if you could take them instead of story characters. They probably have trusts programmed to react things in a certain way and since Squadrons are only base classes, they would have to program that into the Trusts and possibly even "upgrade" them into "super Conjurerer".

    Having a customized team of your choosing would be cool, kind of felt like you were playing Tactics/Type-0. Oh well, I just wish we could glamour the Trusts instead of the alternate outfits.

    I think kinda late for this. The update where 2.0 trust becomes available is like 2 months from now, so I believe they are already done their part. No point trying to shoehorn squadron members into trust now.

    All I know is I'd like my squadron healer to actually heal me.

    I've died repeatedly as a tank because they refuse to cast cure 2. She'll either stand there stupid, or cast Stone.
