Sadly it wouldn’t surprise me. It seems Elidibus isn’t as popular as the holy trinity of Venat Hythlo and Emet, so it seems that’s why he was just kind of shafted as a character and written off so quickly. The heart of the first Elder primal killed off in 5 mins of the expansion supposed to be ending their arc lol.

The design team went out of their way to make Themis as googly eyed smol cute as they could for Panda, so I'm opting to hold out hope for bittersweet end rather than fullsad end. The power of Cute is a hell of a boon in this game lol

I hope you’re right. Sadly though it seems it’s only dead ends for the antagonists(even their past versions) so i’m not holding my breath.

Also, re: Emet and Hyth reincarnation, as someone who would actually really like to see that happen the Live Letter did not make it seem like they have any plans to bring them back. Yoshi-P basically just said their souls have been cleansed and they've fulfilled their purpose so in his opinion they might not even want to come back. Sure, if they decide down the road that they really want to do it for whatever reason they probably could, but I don't think you have to worry about them popping up in 6.1 or something.

Even if they got plugged into new bodies the second after they faded away in Ultima Thule they wouldn't likely play a major roll in any upcoming patches because they'd be infants and the game exists in a wibblywobbly timebubble. If any of our dead friends appear in the future it'd probably be our fruitgummy temporarily fishing them out of the lifestream.

I say Ultima was plausibly another Calamity that she stopped because Ultima generally checks the boxes of other confirmed Calamity-capable things we've seen and stopped that weren't actually causing Calamities at the time (Ultima Weapon, King Thordan, Alexander, Shinryu, Eden). Granted, those boxes are basically 'big, scary and conspicuously timable', but it's also notable that the situation around her was fairly close to the time of the Fourth Umbral Calamity, and she appears largely earth-elemental from her fight and concept.

Ultima's element is light. It was holy in prior appearances, but FFXIV lacks a proper holy element.

I'm not sure fishing their souls out of the lifestream is actually going to be possible anymore, the fruit gummy lost its power to bring people back to life and Yoshi-P (or the translator, rather) said a few times that their souls have been (past tense) cleansed and their memories are gone.

Hydelyn gave us a temporary power up after we fought her as a contingency plan (or, per Emet, possibly an apology), but her revival powers were only meant to be temporary. The fruit gummy using its own powers never gave anyone life, it just pulls people to us. Back in 5.3's fight against WoL!Elidibus we summoned Emet's soul and he used his own powers to drag us to safety before returning to the lifestream so living or dead doesn't seem to be as important as "Are they willing to help me?". If Hyth and Emet are not willing to help us, be it from memory wipe or curled up for the long sleep they deserve, that'd remove them from the summoning pool. Other dead friends that are conscious enough to respond would theoretically still be fair game.

I was pretty shocked they straight up said that tidbit about Ra’La and the Ancients. I know it was brought up many times before in threads discussing Endwalker, but to hear it confirmed, or at the very least said that “it’s probably their future” is interesting.

Glad we now know about how the Unsundered escaped. A very Venat thing to do, leave the door cracked just a bit to leave things open and not lock everything in place. The fact that the known cost would be her soul means she likely didn’t make the decision lightly.

It’s something we already knew so it’s not like it was news. Had they actually said this is exactly what would happen to the ancients that’s a different story. We’re still back at where we were before, left wondering what would have actually happened had she told the truth.

The people who said "it's probably they're future" are the people who wrote the game so we'd have to take their word for it. None of the characters have their own will or agency, it all takes place in someone's head and is presented to us.

Assuming the WoL knows all the side quest chains, the stuff they were actually told about the Calamities from my recollection...

1-3: Absolute zip-nothing.
4: Earthquake caused when the Crystal Tower launched Dalamud, by Emet-Selch and Fandaniel. That sounds like a lot of info, but nothing actually useful for stopping it.
5: ???
6: Caused by the Elementals, probably. This is more just accepted public assertion rather than actually evidenced, but there's not much else around the War of the Magi that could've caused a flood like that.
7: This one we've got good intel on: the Dalamud drop, caused by Lahabrea with some distant aid by Emet-Selch, through the Seventh Legion. However, also remember that this Calamity didn't actually cause widespread destruction on the Source, thanks to the actions of--hold on this might be important--a group of Hydaelyn worshippers.

So we don't have anything useful about most of the Calamities, and the only one we do have actionable info on... well, she might've already acted to lessen the impact.

The Dalamud one actually catches my attention here. It explains why she never directly interfered with it or interacted with the 1.x WoL (other than she wasn't written then), because she knew Dalamud HAD to occur, she had no reason to stop it. She interacted with the WoL after this because she knew for a fact from what was likely told to her in the past that this was the moment where she would have to start directly interacting with the WoL.
