"You pull, you tank" is a bad mentality

I am not going to pull aggro off of them because following the TOS is important to me.

Now, I’m not one to report. I usually brush people off and in 4 man content I have the power to pass a vote kick immediately so that’s the route I take.

However

Refusing to participate is something I will report for. You don’t get to throw a tantrum and waste my time. You signed up for a role, you play that role. I do not care if the dps pulled, you pick it up. As a whm main, you refusing to because you are having a hissy fit, makes my job harder. Suck it up, put on your big kid pants, and tank or excuse yourself from the duty

10 year healer here. You pull, you tank. 9/10 times I will side with the actual tank in any duty. Just the way it is. You don't like it as a dps? Roll tank. DPS are always replaceable. Always.

So are tanks and healers. I haven't waited more than five minutes for either in a dungeon. Contrary to popular belief either role isn't special either. And this is coming from a tank main.

Idk.. Most times I've been in dungeons and where a DPS has pulled additional mobs, they've then proceeded to run around like a headless chicken expecting the tank to play a lovely game of tag.

See, this is where it's completely acceptable to let them die. Trying to tag a bunch of mobs chasing someone can cause problems because you're dragging other mobs who may be AoEing. If they simply drag them back to you, then take them and be done with it. Turning off your stance for some petty nonsense is simply childish. Once again, they're not intending to cause drama but you are.

I mean, if you wanna play the "b-but Yoshi-P said!!!" It's also against ToS to refuse to participate. That includes not picking up aggro on the mobs a DPS pulls as a tank. /shrug

I can see how that might make sense for you if you don't know what the word "participate" means! <3 I'd still be hitting mobs, doing damage and trying my hardest within my own playstyle! I'm not standing there afking.

You should try entering in a GM ticket specifically saying "Tank didn't Aoe mobs that DPS pulled, they just hit a solo target" and watch as nothing happens haha. You could even gently say in chat "Hey Tank, would you mind picking up these mobs you didn't pull?" but when I ignore you, or respond with "no thank you, I am doing my best with the mobs I've pulled right now and couldn't possibly handle the mobs I didn't pull", there is nothing you can do.

I'm participating and playing in my own playstyle. There are actually no rules preventing a DPS from pulling and no rules preventing a tank from not picking aggro on those except the ones you've made up here.

It's kinda exciting because I've never legitimately been able to say this but... "you don't pay my subbbbbbbb".

If you're intentionally running ahead of me to pull everything, despite me literally popping sprint between packs then, nope I don't have to be compelled to play your way. Keep trying! Also maybe put in a GM ticket and ask them!

YES. This is the right attitude. That's exactly what you should do. Report and see how far it gets you. You can be mad that a players level of participation doesn't match your own desired output, but you cannot compel them to play how you want. So honestly, report and keep reporting. That is the best route, using the tools available to you, rather than bitching on the forums, trying to bully people into thinking the DPS are in the right here for not staying in their lane lol.

Logged on to just say, Yoshi changed the TOS recently and asked us not to "compel a playstyle".

If a DPS wants to roleplay a Tank, I am going to let them. I am not going to pull aggro off of them because following the TOS is important to me. I'm not going to berate them in chat, and I'm not going to tell them to stop. I am going to continue hitting the mobs that I pulled and keep it moving.

If the DPS dies during their RP, I can only assume it was a part of the experience that they wanted. Maybe they have a masochistic streak? Hopefully the healer can handle their decisions.

Each role has a purpose and a set of responsibilities. But if people want to RP other roles, I am all here for being supportive! So peep the name, I'm on Aether, if you get into a dungeon with me, go ham! I will not compel you to stay in your lane, just as you will not compel me to adopt your playstyle.

While a cute summary, you're actually the one more likely to get in trouble here. Why? Purposely turning off your tank stance is essentially killing the DPS. Just like how refusing to heal someone you're mad at can get you a warning, so can intentionally killing a DPS.

Whoever takes their tank stance off anymore? I just switch to single target and do my absolute best solo. Try again, and yes keep generating these ideas for your GM report. You pull it, you tank it. <3

You know, you can pop your stance and food as soon as you load into the dungeon, before you can even leave the little cutscene circle. Failing that, you can do it while running towards the first pack. How'd you let the BLM take three attacks before catching up? Did you not use sprint? Did you not gap-close? Personally, I'd be ashamed of myself if I let a DPS die because I was spending too much time at the start of the dungeon "activating my tank stance" .

Generally I do, and generally I am the first one out of the gate sprinting away.

Didn't happen this time for some reason or another. Was I being malicious? No. They just out paced me. BLM's have a much longer range than tanks do. Did I giggle a bit and then sigh afterwards when they bit the dust? Neither confirm nor deny.

Choices and actions have consequences and that BLM learned them. Hopefully they don't repeat.

Nice try but that's still allowing the DPS to die, which isn't doing your job as a tank. Regardless, I wouldn't waste my time arguing with you in a dungeon, I'd just Vote Kick or accept it someone else initiated one. Like I said, waiting for a new tank doesn't take nearly as long as a lot of people think.
