I do not care how I sound like. Excuse me for having a real reaction on here, and vented a bit. I do not like marks like this on my account. Simple as that. It bothers me. I cannot stand it. I similarly have a spotless record in real life as well.

I do seriously doubt an appeal will do anything, as I do not know the circumstances. I do not know whether this is because I didn't raise somebody, or if it was due to me leaving a dungeon. It couldn't have been chat, since I rarely interact with anybody, especially not pugs.

The GM stating: "You do not need to know specific information." Is extremely concerning.

Going by your OP you clearly have an attitude problem so you probably rubbed someone up the wrong way.


However there is a legal method of getting to know what action was taken and why:

use GDPR laws.

They have a legal obligation to supply you with all information they hold on you - that means CS notes,mention them specifically, they can redact who complained and who it was against.

They also have a legal obligation to have accurate information.

Try the GM again and ask for the email address of the person/department who deals with the Subject access requests. If they still don't back down then make a subject access request.

They have a set time period to respond and if they don't you can make a complaint to the information authority where their European operations are based. It might be better if you're based in Europe but they need to comply for the whole world. If they just ignore it they could get hefty fines.

The approach has been used against EA for FIFA lottery box info.

It'll never happen because their server infrastructure is very bad. I play from the UK and had 90ms from there to the Canadian based EU servers. Most games that's really good but in FF14 you can miss telegraphs by a small amount. When they moved to mainland Europe I got 50ms and that issue disappeared.

Ouch that sounds painful.

In addition it must be very hard sometimes for a GM to distinguish a genuine offence a not. I can see they might have to deal with:

1. A scenario where the fault and issue is obvious.
2. A situation where the player reporting thinks a rule was broken but actually wasn’t - think that is what the OP is arguing here.
3. A malicious report.

I think two and three would be very hard to distinguish and it makes judgement difficult for a GM - I don’t envy them.

If I was in the OP’s situation and believed I did nothing wrong and the strike was unfair, I think I’d be robustly arguing against it too.

The last person I ever reported was a healer 'AFK'. I don't remember who it was but they called them out and mentioned are they going to stop AFK again, as they will report them because everyone was dying simply because of non-healing, and other healer was struggling so it wasn't hard to tell. It's also an instance where WHM doesn't really have notable ogcds. We also wiped on a boss so that probably led up to all this stuff. Raid calculators can determine how much healing is happening just as much as damage.

The main reason for the report was the talking back that occurred to that person in party chat, they ended up saying they would play how they want, basically things that only proved the point correct but also how toxic they were. Had they picked up the pace quietly nothing would have happened. I guess someone got caught and their fight or flight got triggered.

What a fricken thread! Poking about the TOS and uncertain if was mentioned buuuuut;

"Warning" is a penalty issued for minor violations for which a more severe penalty than a Caution is required. As with a Caution, depending on the nature of the violation, an instruction for improvement may be given with regard to the violation. Please follow any instructions to prevent further account actions in the future.

These lines both seem rather important and imply that the GM team should endeavor to offer information to the offender when possible. It does not appear that they do this ever? Perhaps this is new addition to TOS and GM team is unfamiliar still? For something as ambiguous as "grief tactics" it would appear the GM team should be offering that advice as mentioned above. Or are taking the may part too to mean never ever never.

Further within the TOS;

If a Game Master (GM) gives an instruction based on the User Agreement and/or other rules, failure to follow the instruction is a violation and a penalty will be issued. If you are given an instruction by a GM, please follow this immediately.

It does appear that a GM is allowed to inform players of what in TOS they violated and in some ways are encouraged to do so. Why else would these clauses be within TOS otherwise?

Searching grief tactics yielded nothing so am assuming this is in reference to "Obstruction of play".

Both seem to imply Square searches for pattern of behavior before actioning the account if this assists at'all. Any stating that a GM will never or should never inform a player of what they had done wrong are false based upon the TOS as it is written.

Best of the luck! Would like to know outcome myself because for past two weeks we have been having intermittent issues remaining connected only when within dungeons. If friends or me are reported for this then warned I would be most displeased if could never appeal. Everything is stable in overworld when doing story stuffs, lag only occurs within duties and is completely fricken random. Trace routes confirm issue is with NTT Sacramento nodes so nothing we can fix.

Just saying, if you guys spent this much effort into wanting Viera/Hrothgar’s fixed than you do bitching at the OP in this thread; we would’ve had the hairstyle/hat problem sorted by now.

Rule number 1 in Party Finder is that what happens in PF stays in PF. People will die, you will die. But still, do what you can. It helps to improve your own skill anyway. If someone is bad, let them be bad than arguing which is usually pointless.

Just expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if it doesnt happen than to expect the best and be utterly miseranle when it doesnt happen. One thing I notice in PF/DF is that, once people are disappointed sometimes they throw out words out of anger. And while they might forget about it an hour later, the log stays and GMs can read it whenever.

Finally got my appeal responded to! It got denied! I'd love to be in a bad mood over this, but I mean.. I wasn't actually expecting anything to come out of it. I'd love to take this as a learning experience - except I still have no idea what I supposedly did. I do not have any knowledge of going out and actually trying to "grief" anybody, so whatever this whiner (or whiners) said in their report, must have been compelling enough. There are already dozens of pages of back and forth on what could have been, so I have no interest in dragging that into discussion again.
