Black Mage

I have no idea if this is the right place . I am struggling to figure out what to do about becoming a black mage. I did the crystal quest. I'm at level 48 and it won't let me do the next guest. Once you go black . I found Laila but it won't let me continue

Did you get and equip the Black Mage soul crystal?

it is automatically put into your soul crystal armoury chest, which is the bottom right equipment slot. It will never go into your normal inventory. You will know you have equipped it as your job will change from Thaumaturge to Black Mage at the top of the equip screen.

Ok so I'm not sure we're I'm supposed to go to continue BM quests. I'm at level 52 , finished main quest to the point of end credits . Lilia has not given me anything . Not sure what I'm missing

You have to keep going and get to the Heavensward Expansion content. Just finishing the Praetorium dungeon is the end of 2.0, you still have the 2.1-2.55 MSQ quests to go through. You will know you have hit the point you can continue as it should appear on the MSQ quest tracker UI.
