The House Buying System is a Dreadful and Off-Putting Experience

This game has successfully made some rather conventionally boring MMO mechanics quite fun. When it comes to buying a house, however, there is nothing fun or entertaining about this system.

I don't mind housing being limited or having to "earn" the plot. I don't mind sitting there for hours and chatting with other people. I don't mind having an equal chance at the plot along with a large crowd of 10-20 people.

What I do mind is having to click a placard along with everyone else every 2 seconds. That's up to a potential of 43,200 clicks on a 24 hour timer for a roughly 5-10% chance at the house. Didn't get it? Rinse and repeat. If I'm using key binds, it's up to 259,200 key presses. Insanity.

The human body was not designed for this. There is a better way.

it's going to change with 6.1 though, at least for new plots in Ishgard. And we will also get Island Sanctuaries that may functions like personal home plots with some unique features (as a lot of existing plots goes for FC and RP).

Lmao if you're not using a bot to click on the placard and you're clicking on it manually it's just a waste of time for you (obviously don't cheat smh I'm just saying don't waste your energy and health clicking it's not healthy)

The lottery system is supposed to alleviate those issues but whether it does.. we'll see. It'd be nice to have a house but I'm just going to pray to RNGesus on the lotto. It's p clear that they're not going to rework the system in any meaningful way

yes but the lottery system is shaping up to be worse than the first come first serve system, with players only able to enter 1 lottery per week, and only 1 plot per lottery, meaning past week 1 99.99% of players will never, ever be able to acquire a large house

Better than the old system where that percentage occurred within a few hours. The current system is just as bad because now you are paying 15 a month to stand in front of a placard and not play the game. At this point, who cares? Let them try something new. Better than running Placard EX against auto clickers.

Yeah housing is untenable in this game, I am more or less just ignoring it besides my apartment. Kind of a shame for a game that does so many things well...

Lottery won't really fix the problem tbh.

at least previously if you got in somehow, by buying a small house, you could make your way up to medium and large by using relocation

Wouldnt say its worse because at least now you dont have to camp god knows how many hours for it to be left up to luck and rng anyhow. Besides that not sure about you but dont think i have ever seen a large plot for sale so being as how its up to whoever owns if they vacate even wiyh the old system 99.99% of the players wont ever get a large house. At least with ishgard "x" amount of people will become new homeowners not just new large homeowners. Now personally when isgard goes live it would be nice since all the wards are new it would be nice if rather then bidding on one spacific plot your actually bidding on a pool. Like how the small houses are broken up into different cost brackets. So if your willing to pay the higher end small any of the plots that qualify as that you have a chance to win.
