Another Nier collab

I'm pretty sure this is going to be pointed at Nier: Reincarnation. They already did stuff with Nier: Automata, so I doubt this is going to be an in-game FFXIV event, but rather a gacha event for the mobile game. It wouldn't surprise me for them to give back on that due to a whole expansion of Alliance Raids centered around Nier Automata then Nier: Replicant in some fashion, especially since they announced way before Endwalker that our next Alliance Raid is going to be centered around The Twelve.

It might just be one sided, probably getting something from ffxiv, maybe a Yshtola cameo.

Yeah, same thing with Monster Hunter for example.

The Monster Hunter event works fine in the context of FFXIV, though. We have plenty of talking animals already, so the felyne doesn't stand out; we have hunt bills as a daily/weekly thing, so that works; and Rathalos is just a powerful wyvern, in a game where lore establishes that dragons take different forms as they grow. It doesn't even pretend to be from some other world/dimension/whatever, it's just a short thing that happens. The Nier raids don't really try to blend into the setting, so they stick out like a sore thumb.

At least they can't hijack a 24 man raid where we could have gotten backstory on the First instead of that pathetic mishmash of a story we did get. I hope this is just on the Nier mobile game side. Like someone else said, there are other games in the actual Final Fantasy series that haven't gotten the crossover attention a game in a completely unrelated series has gotten. Either focus on original XIV stories like they are with Myths of the Realm or incorporate more Final Fantasy games instead. We don't need more of Yoko Taro's half effort shoved into XIV.
