Can we not shame people who don't like the MSQ?

MSQ is like 70% of the content. If you dont like it, especially hate it then I would think XIV wouldnt be a good investment of your time, unless if you are a hardcore raider that plan to beat every savages and ultimates and even doing speedruns while youre at it. But such hardcore player only make up a tiny percentage of the community as a whole.

After all we play games to have fun. If you actively dislike a large portion of the game where is the fun in that?

And from one of your posts about wanting to be a hero for the minority, I don’t feel that your stance is genuine. More like you’re trying to earn brownie points. I only ever seen "joking banter" in friend groups about this. Because at this point everyone knows that its a meme inside FFXIV community. I never actually seen anyone "shaming" someone else for not playing MSQ. If someone shames you, you can block them and even report if they are really turning it to bullying.

I have many people on my friend list who either story skipped or who skip all the CS. I also have people who are still in Stormblood or ShB because they just don't focus on MSQ but on any literal available side content
I should have the freedom to say that I liked the MSQ and I think they miss on it and they should have the freedom to say thanks but thanks no.

If you face anything going more to shame/ bully, report or ignore and move on.

On the other hand, if you story skip and say the story is bad... then don't get surprised if some people raise their eyebrows.
Or if you skip CS but don't wait for other sprouts to watch it, then you are also not a too kind person...

I honestly have seen more people like this> We go into CT raids, we see 2-3 sprouts, some even say "hey first time" then people don't wait for them to watch CS. Then the ealry starters start arguing that they dont care about this, its boring old content anyway, "its wasting their time", "its only for dailies, lets go quick"...

I literally take screenshots of any convo in game that I find memorable, just for the heck of it. It’s super easy to do and would add context and proof to your post. I suggest doing so next time for the sake of transparency.

Being told to go play another game or go back to WoW (if they suspect you are from that)? Yes, absolutely.

Lore cultists is the only community in this game that straight up scare the shit out of me. Before the devs gave Waking Sands ticket, I remember how adamant some people were on the forums about not making a single change to how to get there because lore. Didn't matter how small or big the change was, it was always "LORE SAID SO!".

Lore said so? You mean same lore that was made up by word of god and could be changed if it greatly inconvenienced its playerbase? Or better yet, use their creative brains to get around lore created issues? So glad Lore Cultists are not game devs.

From experience most people that have said they don't like the MSQ have worded it in such a way that people are likely going to take issue with it. "I don't enjoy the story in this game, it isn't for me", is entirely different from "The story sucks", especially when skipping is involved with the latter. It's not really unlike the premise of people talking about raiding and the difficulty of the game, or the job design and encounter design itself, despite never having potentially stepped in a raid. <- It's really just another form of that.

If you weren't interested in the story enough to pay attention during the cutscenes, why would you be interested in reading a wiki summary about it afterwards? What a horrible way to consume fiction.

Because I can read the entire plot in 45 minutes instead of playing it for 5 hours.

That's being generous, reading about it is very likely quicker.

It's fine if you don't want to watch the cutscenes. Go ahead and skip them. Do the content you enjoy.

But don't complain about the story if you chose to skip it.
