I think that's what normally happens to a degree (although on Fabul at least there's always some activity going on in Ul whether it's an exp party or Ifrit fight or whatever). There's alot more content though in this patch, I haven't even looked into the whole trading nm/dungeon gear for seals to get promoted and barding stuff yet.
Plus, while delays do happen, the next patch isn't that far away is it and that's bringing hamlet defenses?

I guess it all depends. At first, I thought it was easy, but for a new player, it would take a significant investment in time to get the AF gear.
There really is a lot of content in this patch, but of course people are going to rush to complete everything ASAP, and complain that there is nothing to do.
Just so you know they clarified that it is not AF gear like you think of it like in FFXI. It is just starter class gear, Yoshi-P had said in another post somewhere in a dev post that they plan to have a real AF gear and to thing of the current gear as more or less job specific gear.Don't get me wrong, I love the look of af.
Though, I have a problem on how easy it is obtained, you can get all your af for one job(if your good two) less than a few hours.
Also, is there any plans on changing stats to af, it seems a lot of melded gear would be better than some of the AF we get.
So you mean that gear that you can get pretty quickly isn't as good as gear that players take ages getting the right components for? Is this such an absurd idea?
It was the same in FFXI, AF didn't include the highest stats in the game but did and does provide some unique bonuses.

When I had to kill Bardi, I saw a group of 6 people waiting and figured 'great, I'm going to be here forever'. Ended up getting an invite straight away. Same happened with numerous NM- nice to see people helping others out (especially for the people doing these at level 30).
