I hope so... Only my base game/ARR key aren't the same as my main Steam account. I didnt problems with Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker because they give different keys.

I was ok with this line: "a Steam version service account will be prompted to perform a one-time link of their Steam account to their Square Enix account. From then on, the Square Enix account will need to match the Steam account that launches the FINAL FANTASY XIV software"

But this one, worried me: "To link accounts, the Steam account must possess a FINAL FANTASY XIV license that matches that found on the target Square Enix account/FINAL FANTASY XIV service account (e.g., the Free Trial version or the full game version)."

Only my expansions were registred from my main Steam account, but the ARR one I got from another.

Like this particular change won't effect me personally (I think) but I'm more than a little irritated that they keep changing, and piling more restrictions, onto specifically the Steam version of the game. And I've sunk far too much time and money into this account to start over on a new one just to get away from Steam.

actually, yes.

normally i see people making threads to complain about pointless things but in this case you guys are 100% correct. it is absurd that certain people are bound to the steam version of the game. even if it's because steam won't allow the license to be transferred it doesn't mean square can't make an exception if you were to contact support or at the very least offer you a discount, or emote or mount or really just... anything for buying the game a 2nd time.

Fully agreed, I tried the free trial six years ago on Steam due to friends playing, and had no idea how big a part of my life the game would become back then. I'd love to be able to migrate off of Steam in order to play. Doing this is just irritating, and I refuse to believe that there's just "nothing they can do" about it. I feel this is more an issue of them not even knowing it's a problem for some people, or they think it's just collateral. I would be more than willing to rebuy the game

I also am among the few who would like to get away from using Steam. There have been many times where I regret purchasing my license through steam. And the changes announced today are annoying because it ties me even more to Steam, something I wish I could get away from.

Adding my support for this. I would pay a LOT of money to be able to transfer my character to a nonsteam account. If I had to start over from scratch, I would probably just stop playing, and I haven't been playing nearly as long as some people. I don't know why they feel the need to do this, when they must know it'll lock some people out of their accounts.
