Housing demolition can both be a way to deal with the housing situation AND also get people to stay subbed. Staggering content releases can both be a way to get players to not burn themselves out AND extend the sub time of players for each major patch.

I do not know how people don't realize this but I guess the Live Letters are truly incredible propaganda that work so, so well. The best propaganda, after all, are always made with some measure of sincerity, authenticity, and truth. That genuineness allows people to easily forget the untold. Just because Yoshi P isn't lying doesn't mean that he's telling you the full picture.

You will never ever get rid of this problem without mind reading. I am sure, that he does not tell the whole truth. Because even he does not see the whole picture. In such a big company there are many other people who makes decisions and he has no clue what they decided. And if he does not tell something then because nobody asked about it.

So yes, he does not tell you everything. But you have to live with it. In other companies you will get the same for the same reasons.

It's enough for me to recall the amount of complaining on the forums and the amount of time SE spent resisting the idea of taking peoples' houses away from them to believe the authenticity of the demolition mechanism being created to give people actually playing the game a chance at owning property.

I also believe that Yoshi-P is sincere when communicating with us in the Live Letters. As the game's director/producer there are things he simply can't tell us, and I accept that. I'm the R&D director for a company that's significant in our industry (a hobby activity) and there are many things I can't tell my friends, family, or acquaintances who are involved in the hobby, so I get it. Even so, I've perceived nothing but sincerity from him when he's communicated directly with people.


Is it better for business that everyone who plays the game remains subscribed at all times? Sure, constant income is always good for a business. HOWEVER, I believe the amount of good will generated by Yoshida's statement about taking breaks and the CBU3 team's genuine communication with the community has generated greater profit due to player retention than it would have made by keeping a dwindling number of players subbed at all times.
