Ooh another duty finder thread. So shiny. So new.

First story to contribute to this new thread:
Queue'd for trials roulette and got Suzaku. We had a new tank. We also had a MCH who started off by listing mechanics. "I've done this like 10 times on EX for the mount" he said. Part of his mechanics included splitting the birds up and killing them on the edges of the arena. Of course this led to round two of all the birds since we were killing the center feather. We wiped, again, and again, and yet again. After the first wipe, we had a DPS leave because he thought we were doing extreme instead of normal. We got a replacement RDM. After the second wipe, our RDM suggested bringing all the birds to the center and AOEing them like you are supposed to. The MCH still insisted that you need to split the birds, and even initiated a vote kick on the RDM for harassment (lol). The vote kick was rejected. After the fourth wipe, the MCH finally listens to reason and says to bring the birds to the center. We only had one bird revive for round two and we got it down quickly. We finally got the boss down. Ugh, what a headache that was.

Honestly, I would have kicked the MCH long before that - if he was so adamant on a strategy that doesn't work in Normal mode and kept causing wipes due to it. Especially so if he attempted to get someone else kicked for advising on doing it the correct way. Like, that's abuse of the vote kick function if I've ever seen it lol.

Hey it's the Ultros and Typhon fight! I'm SGE, co-healer is WHM. Things are going fine but I notice there's never a Regen going out. No Medica II, either, but only the tanks are taking damage so far. I glance at the castbar. Cure II. Well, okay, I feel like a Regen would get you away with more but so long as--

Cure I. Alright, I bet they are new to the job. I'll try to word things in a way that'll let them explain their reasoning if they have any, maybe they're just confused, maybe there is actually a reason.

Before I left, I said "I really don't mean to be rude, but whm after 50 is about avoiding using Cure". I know that's an oversimplification and there are varying specific reasons you might use it, esp depending on how far you are from 50, but I wanted to at least say something. If they're using Cure on later trials, too, depending on how they use their other skills they might be griefing their co-healer.

It reminds me of my "friend" who mained tank and once I had the misfortune to heal him in expert roulette. He used ZERO mitigation. When I pointed out the fact he said "I never used it and I never had problems".

This mentality that just because you've always done something badly and have always managed to get carried by others, then you're doing fine, has to end.

There are a lot of fights where you do split, but yeah that's not the one. What a weird strategy, it needs killing 2 or more feathers too, due to the overlap.

I have to ask, did he also run into the hole a lot?

Was just in a PotD where a Paladin was angry that three of us didn't have soul stones. Because we're leveling. In PotD. Couldn't grasp the understanding of why there were no soulstones involved.

I've never had so much trouble healing a tank as I did just now. They were generally well-geared and I didn't notice any weird cooldown usage. Heck, I push Thancred to do full pulls in Holminster Switch all the time, and I barely use resources. But today, just now, I legit ran out of resources and had to resort to diagnosis spamming and we still wiped twice. And our DPS wasn't even bad, things were dying fast. Just a really, really weird run. :P

It is weird how that happens. rare, but weird. I agree!

Had a whm the other day in The Dead Ends only using Cure... when I said they should be using the ocgds and cure 2s not cure 1 they said "No". I left a couple of pulls after the first boss. (They died repeatedly to it) and ate the 30. No wonder it was a join in progress after only a few minutes the DPS I replaced probably didn't want to deal with that BS

Had a whm the other day in The Dead Ends only using Cure... when I said they should be using the ocgds and cure 2s not cure 1 they said "No".

For WHM they should think about renaming the cure spells. Cure 3 -> Group Cure, Cure 2 -> Cure, Cure 1 -> Healing Touch (or something/integrate with Cure II). And remove freecure.

When I switched from WHM to leveling alt jobs, mostly tanks I've seen a lot of weird behavior. I've seen Cure III spam on ST (so constant oom) and cure I spam fishing freecure in EW leveling dungeon during wall pull. Half of the time holy not use. In 50-ish dungeons I also saw quite a few scholars struggle with healing.
