    thats cute.

you want to apply a ranking system to the game, so that people get put into little niches of playstyle/ability and *I* am toxic and should be removed from the game.

as has been said, the tools for "better skill matchups" exist in game. its called, friends, even linkshells of like minded people as yourself. its all doable and not nearly as "toxic" as implementing a system for ranking every player in the game per your liking.

I tend to agree with SE's outlook on the matter, as the idea of gatekeeping or creating elite queues for extremely low-risk content is honestly extremely silly. Just make some friends and play with a premade.
That statement just rubs me the wrong way. Pretty much reads as "we match good players who put in effort to finish the content with bad players who would hardly be able to do it, so that the good player will have a miserable experience and the bad player won't have to improve while enjoying a free carry." The content isn't hard - it's an absolute joke, but I do die a little inside every time I get Dead Ends from Expert roulette and watch them all flail around like they've never seen a computer/console before, just knowing that they'd be in there for 30+ minutes if I wasn't working for 4.

Making friends works, until they all quit since the only new content added to the game is to the cash shop in a subscription based pay-up-front game.

You don't want people of varying skill levels in your party, stop using the tools that we were given to get clears and match you up with random people to fill seats.

Go use the PF if you have "skill reqs".

This topic is actually hilarious. So often the reason trotted out by those who don't want to play with the players who are less skilled than them is that the extra 5 minutes in a dungeon run is just such a drain on their perfectly clocked, precious Gaming Time. Yet some sort of elo or player classification system would just balloon queue times to two or three (or more) times that. So, yeah, you're just Too Busy to spend an extra 5 minutes in a dungeon or trial but you're somehow not Too Busy to wait in queue for an extra 15 minutes. Right...

    This.

If folks want to complain that "some people don't know how to play the game" and then also want to intentionally segment those folks off from the very people who could teach them, then that situation is never going to be addressed. Because for all that I hear people stress how seemingly prevalent "toxic casuals" and "toxic elitists" are in this game, I've met far more really good players who are willing to help provide tips and advice, and far more inexperienced players who are happy to get tips and improve.

Sure, I've encountered some of both 'toxic' varieties -- I suspect everyone in this thread has bumped into at least a few -- but overall, I've encountered the toxicity at either end far less than the prevalence that forum posts and such seem fond of suggesting exists.

Besides which, the problem is, as I've often said, not the 'casual' or 'elitist' part of those terms, but the 'toxic' part; segregating the two populations does next to nothing to address that, and probably only further encourages folks who might otherwise not fall into those mindsets to do so by creating echo chambers... thus making the problem more egregious in any content where they might mix, rather than less.

Defiinitely. I'll happily wait in queue longer if I end up in a run where me and my teammates will be equal partners and not one with me forced in the role of charitable little pony that's supposed to carry three little toddlers who literally do nothing for half the run with their stellar 50% GCD uptime. There is place and time for being helpful but this idea that better players are supposed to shut up and never touch roulettes if they don't feel like being taken advantage of is simply insulting.

Why do you think roulettes have a reward above and beyond the normal?

    • If you are an optimizer and play your job at peak performance? You get grouped with other people of the same mindset.
    • If you are competent and can keep your GCD rolling? (and thus above average sadly) You get grouped with similar players who also do the same.
    • If you don't care about combat and just want to play the game? You get to play with all the other people with the same mindset.

To be fair in this system everyone would start at the middle and would go up or down based on individual performance in duties per role.

After some time, the player base is sorted out and Elitists and Toxic Casuals will never have to interact with each other again.

As an extra bonus you could set your Party Finder to only allow Rank x-x to preemptively filter and make less trap parties in PF.
Go back to WoW so you can run mythic + all day with the rest of the sweaties.

What they need is an in game Act/parse system, with instead of the sprout/crown/flower symbol its just a percent based on ur DPS clear rate for the last tier.
