They reuse assets from FFXI in every single expansion. Monsters with same model, name, texture, and animations for example. Rarely do they change them. It's just faster for them to take stuff and reuse them. Is it lazy? One could argue it's reusing assets out of lazyness. One could also argue it's a callback to FFXI that they happen to rely on quite often. Does it work though? Yep. They reuse stuff all the time and it's nothing new going into Endwalker.
