I don't understand this "controversy" behind Stormblood and I couldn't care less. Stormblood was my shit.

I haven't been playing too long, but sometimes when I revisit older zones I still feel a sense of nostalgia and a want to return back to when I was first experiencing the stories for the expansions. It's strange, Heavensward was great, but when I take in the music and see some old characters return, I long for replaying Stormblood for the first time the most. Especially post-game Azim Steppe moments.
Mortal Fist
IMO Stormblood's biggest issue was a lack of focus. The Ala Mhigo and Doma pieces are both really interesting but switching back and forth didn't give either of them the time and love hey deserved.
the majority of the doman part bore me to death, but sb is my fav expansion after shb by far
Omega was the best raid series. UCoB and UWU were/are great. The EX trials were at their best. Job design was a perfect mix of complexity and approachable. Tanking wasn't brain ded, and the story hadn't jumped the shark. SB was the best expansion the game ever had, and everything was downhill after it.

Indeed. Plus Tsukuyomi was one of the best MSQ trials they've done to date.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:

I didn't really like the SB main story but Omega and Ivalice raid were absolute top tier.
Im one of the few whom genuinely enjoyed Stormblood's story and environment. It introduced a lot of interesting characters and it fulfilled my curiosity with the build up of the Ala Mhigan plight while putting the Empire back into the spotlight since they were pretty much almost absent last expansion. Also the music itself I loved more than Heavenswards, including its leitmotif and boss theme. It also still to this day imo, had the best raid content with the Omega Raids calling back to previous FF bosses (and the story line of it was super cool and cute) as well as the Return to Ivalice which was just a huge fanservice to FF Tactics and FFXII fans. And of course the post-Stormblood scenarios was just the icing on the cake to how it lead up to Shadowbringers. Yeah it had its awkward moments and a bit of pacing issues but so did ARR and HW and its funny despite how perfectly loved ShB msq was it still had weird story pacing issues (never gonna forget and lol at the Ahm Araeng trolly/Talos obsession arc).
To me every expansion keeps improving from the last which is a general good growth for this game.

I didn't find the main scenario of Stormblood that interesting but I didn't hate it either. The postgame was awesome.
My only complaint is it feels like they took 2 areas worthy of their own expansion's worth of content and watered both down. I would love to go to Naxia or Hingan mainland someday.
