    Despite how controversial Stormblood is/was...

I will say that the adventures of the Warrior of Light, Lyse, and Alisaie were really fun and great. I enjoyed talking to them between missions and events. The group just had such great synergy and banter.

All the trouble and mischief they got into is great. Then there was all of them getting annoyed at everyone telling them "no" and figuring out ways to get them to actually fight for their freedom. Usually through trickery.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the adventures in Heavensward but that was extremely serious most of the time. So the adventures in Stormblood were a nice change due to being much more light hearted in nature.

I feel like the side content in Stormblood made up for my general feeling of malaise with the story (The Azim Steppe aside).

Shadowbringers was the other way around, where I enjoyed the story but found the side content dull (Nier), okay if lacking (Eden), or just outright presented bizarrely (Weapons).

    It had some good moments.

Still kind of feels a bit off though, that the first response of the Eorzean Alliance to a stalemate was to go and kick off another war in a region that really wasn't that into the idea.

And that taking said war a bit too far and managing to kick the Garleans out, presumably to join up with the rest of their legion in Eorzea, had no real consequences to our war effort.

I can write the 2nd one off as Zenos just not being that bothered about the actual war, the first is still a bit dubious though.

I agree! All of Alphinaud's moping in Heavensward was like sandpaper to the brain after a while, so having a story with momentum and bright colors like Stormblood's was a breath of fresh sandpaper air.

Stormblood may be a black sheep, but it's a black sheep jumping through flaming hoops and doing backflips.

Well, they kinda had to. They needed to split the Empire's attention and Doma was the perfect piece for that. Especially after Zeno kinda caused a big setback in Ala Mhigo so early.

I didn't care for the Ala Mhigan side of Stormblood, though the Far East was a genuine treat. Not only did we get our first taste of a neutral nation in the form of Kugane, we were able to work with Hien and Magnai during the journey.

As someone who loathes Lyse and Alisaie it was torture. But everyone enjoys different things. Stormblood, at least overall, was a bit of a bore for me where the MSQ was concerned. The best part for me was the lead in for Shadowbringers.

    Chef’s kiss; absolute perfection

I probably wouldn't put Byakko on that list, though.
