    Would be very cool

Edit: Seeing as people here got confused on how a Noctis's job would work. I decided to suggest a basic idea that can be built upon. So Noctis's job would focus on utilizing different weapons for different attacks. The weapons themselves are assigned to the actions & abilities rather than the weapon slot. This isn't something entirely new, as MCH are capable of utilizing different weapons ( Flamethrower, Cross-bows, a shotgun, etc... ) that are assigned to the actions & abilities and even their LB3 instead of the weapon slot itself. The weapon slot would have an Armiger as a weapon. How it looks like in-game? Up to the devs.
    YES. This 100x.

As a Noctis fanboy, seeing a certain someone using armiger in EW makes me so happy.

And I like your idea of assigning different weapons to abilities. MCH and DNC already do that, so I'm sure armiger system will works. For the base combo and main weapon, have us use one handed sword and spell for ranged. I'm thinking noctis job could be the mystic knight of ff14.

I mean, I don't think Onion Knight is really suitable for Noctis, no. But if "being able to use all the weapons" is the defining trait here... well, we have a canon Final Fantasy job that can use all the other jobs' gear. And that is Onion Knight. (And according to XIV lore, Onion Knights even did exist in the Allagan era, apparently.)

If the goal is more "you have one weapon -- say, a crystal focus for aetheric energy -- and a single set of abilities like every other job, but visually those abilities take the form of different weapons when you use them", then I'd argue that's not really 'using all the weapons', it's just basically just the visuals. Let's say it's a melee job; after all, it does need to fit into either Melee, Physical Ranged, or Magical Ranged as a job in this game. (Heck, you can make it an agile job so it bases off of dexterity -- justify it because you have to switch stances rapidly for all the weapons -- and make it use Scouting gear.)

So you have your various melee abilities that manifest as a sword or a lance or whatever, and then your one or two ranged attacks maybe manifest a bow, and your gap-closer is a warp strike. It's sort of Noctis-ish!

Of course, one problem is that you can't really have any way to glamour all the weapons you use in your attacks individually -- nor would it be reasonable to expect a given crystal focus (for lack of a better term) as this job's main-hand weapon to include unique models for every other weapon you might use. So you'd probably want to have the ones that manifest during attacks just use the Padjal weapons from Palace of the Dead, and the unique weapon appearances would apply to the crystal focus (which could float behind you sort of akin to how sage's nouliths do).

I mean, you can make it work.

But if what you want isn't just the visuals but actually being able to use the different weapons/gear, well... *gestures to Onion Knight*

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

We already have Noctis in the form of BLU, a Job that will never be finished and no one wants to play it. :P

Without the metamorphosizing mana-weapon, that is just being a Warrior of Light / adventurer, though?

Onion Knights even did exist in the Allagan era, apparently.
Aye, but weren't they apparently Vivi-like sentient constructs, much like the mobs we'd find in dungeons, rather than an actual job?

Anything can be reduced to whatever dismissive frame, but in the end, again, it will depend on how the job feels to play. I just doubt, in said gameplay, anything like Noctis would share vibes with anything like a traditional take on an Onion Knight --a mere comically-named job given identity primarily through lack of identity (no weaknesses, no set niche)-- however.

tl;dr: To say that "If you want weapon-changing partly for its visuals, you don't really want weapon-changing" while shuffling everything outside your dichotomy under "If you want weapon-changing, that must be Onion Knight," is... a bit disingenuous.

What about Freelancer or Onion Knight? Both are "endgame" jobs in their respective games, possessing the combined power of numerous other previously mastered jobs. It would have to be a limited job if introduced in this manner, but it could certainly make for some interesting gameplay. Rather than utilizing learned monster skills the way BLU, we rapidly shift between the weapons (likely aetherial versions, but maybe not?) and abilities of every job we have. Could have it gain attribute bonuses and new skills based on how many jobs we have at level cap. Raising every combat job to level cap would make it hideously powerful, but that's kinda the point.
