Personally, I still want a Mystic Knight class. Honestly, I thought EW would have been the perfect opportunity for it, since the classic Mystic Knight/Minwu aesthetic would fit perfectly with Thavnair, but we got Reaper instead. Don't get me wrong, I like Reaper, but Mystic Knight is like my one hold out class that I really want. And I could have seen it being a maiming class. Though maybe it could be a casting class instead.

I wonder if they'll start experimenting with what roles mean exactly. I still sorta think that Dancer should have gotten scouting gear. Same primary stats as aiming, but the scouting aesthetic makes much more sense for DNC than Aiming's generally long coats.

I'm Team Corsair and Team Time Mage

Personally I am hoping we still receive multiple jobs released for the 7.0 expansion (2 as they have been doing), but I could see us receiving only one new job due to the exponential development load that adding any additional jobs to our current job list must create for balancing for a new expansion release. I am rooting for Corsair and Time Mage specifically, and here's why:

Corsair as Melee DPS - Now that Dragoon has a buddy for its Maiming gear with Reaper, "obviously" we cannot leave Ninja all alone with their Scouting gear!! To make a 6th melee would then perfectly balance the DPS roles across melee and ranged (6 melee, 6 ranged (ignoring Blue Mage cause it's limited)). And after all the experiences in Limsa Lominsa and the Merlwyb hype we've had all throughout the MSQ and other quest lines, we're due an awesome pirate-aesthetic job (that doesn't then just turn into Ninja at level 30). Perhaps the best weapon(s) for this job could be a "blade and barrel(pistol)" combo, and leave it open-ended so it could include cutlasses, daggers, scimitars, etc. and pistols, blunderbusses, etc. Abilities could range aesthetically with bombs, grapples (for movement?), gadgets, poisons, even "grog" as a self buff, perhaps? The pistol and potential bomb and gadget abilities would mirror well the ranged abilities that Ninja has from its ninjutsus. And of course, it would have a vulnerability debuff for enemies similar to Ninja as well.

Time Mage as Magical Ranged DPS (as many in this thread have mentioned, YAY) - I think we also are due a new caster DPS, since we haven't seen a new caster DPS since Red Mage released in Stormblood, which by 7.0, will be three expansions prior! In previous Final Fantasy titles, Time Mage has held a supportive role, and I could see arguments for it to be either a DPS or a healer. However, as several so far have discussed, I think with the job changes that occurred in 6.0, completely removing DOT damage abilities from Summoner and minimizing the importance of DOT damage on Bard, we are now missing a token DOT damage job identity from our DPS job lineup. What better way to aesthetically use "damage over time" than with the use of time magic? And yes, I know there has been some "time magic" in Astrologian's kit, but much of it has been removed bit by bit since its initial release in 3.0, hasn't it? How very convenient, one might say. This job's weapon(s) could be a floating crystal "ball" or foci, or even a single wand with particular flourishes for casting (though I could see how this may conflict with certain existing White Mage and Black Mage weapons from ARR). Perhaps one of the job's signature abilities could be an "Inflict the Past" style ability, where, similar to Machinist's Wildfire, some amount of damage is compiled over an X second duration and then applied, based on however many Weaponskills are activated while the ability is active, except that it is affected by the entire party's applied Weaponskills during the active window.

Notable other potential jobs that I would not feel Too Terrible to see in place of these jobs that I've seen mentioned in this thread are Geomancer, Chemist, - especially Rune Fencer or Mystic Knight (Listen, I want this so badly too, I do, but my heart belongs to pirates and time magic first). And like some have commented already, I thought they would keep holding onto Beastmaster and Puppetmaster for potential limited jobs in the future. Also, perhaps there's even better ideas fresh to the FF series, such as Reaper and Astrologian were. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

I'll be honest, I think I mentioned it in another thread but I feel the new Summoner, conceptually if not execution, would have made for a great Mystic Knight, on the topic of missed opportunities. Cast a spell/use an ability, enter a state with a specific playstyle, repeat a few times with different elements for different combat styles, etc... Just you know, Melee.

You know, if I'm being honest, I made a joke of this with Angelo Cannon, but I really wouldn't hate a physical ranged Beastmaster based on Rinoa. In Dissidia NT, half of her gameplay was magic-based, but I think her normal form both makes the concept of her pinwheel weapon work and also offers a really interesting concept with how you handle your pet.

Rather than thinking of your animal companion as a pet using in-game terminology, we could instead think of it like a resource that reacts to your actions rather than just acting on AI. I also think it would be cool if they took a FFX-2 kind of approach and offered us a few different animal companions as options. This could just be cosmetic so that we all don't have the same pet following us around, but maybe you actually do call them at different points in your rotation.

    For anyone not familiar...

I think this Heavensturn was the first time the game has shown Onmyoji as job and not in a negative light. So far we only see them as villains in Fates throughout Othard and Bozja. They are showing a lot of Far Eastern inspired magic having to do with divination/warding against spirits this expansion.

Has Heavensturn always been about Onmyoji warding against spirits or is this new?

It's nearly a given that the next jobs added are going to be dpsers, and one of them is certainly a caster, as that roster is pretty limited with the same 3 jobs for quite a while. And Onmyoji is def. a contender branded as Mystic. Maybe it could be a dpser focusing on dots for once, now that this aspect is nearly dead on all the other jobs.

If they would be fair with roster balance, it would be this Mystic and a new ranged physical.

I wouldn't be so confident as to say that the next jobs will both be DPS jobs at this point. This logic is based around the pattern we've established thus far over the last 3 expansions, but we haven't seen this pattern actually loop, therefore it may not be a pattern at all. It's certainly a possibility, but I would not say it's a given just yet. It's also possible that we may see 1 DPS and 1 Tank and establish DPS/Tank > DPS/Healer > etc. As a potential rhythm for the next few expansions, but there's also the possibility that we'll start only seeing 1 job sometime soon. The main aspect about this that I dread is the prospect that we might only see DPS jobs after crossing that threshold, and so I hope we continue getting 2 for at least a few more expansions.

That is the main reason why I think we will never get only one job per expansion.
They already said that they want to release at least 1 DPS in each expansion, because this is the role that attracts the most players.
And new jobs are of course one of the main source of advertisement for the expansions...so I doubt they would release an expansion without a new job, except maybe if they do a complete combat overall, which is unlikely at this point in my opinion.
Also, with the game aiming for another 10 years, it means 5 more expansions, and there is no way we go through 5 expansions without new healers/tanks.
With that, it means, theoretically, we would get 10 more jobs, for a total of 29. Which is a decent number, when compared to the main competitor, which has 12 classes, each with about 3 different specs.

I want a magic based pet class, that focused more on the creature for damage, unlike pre endwalker summoner

That is a straight my main if they ever release that
