There it is. That's the main reason you made this post. It went from "tanking is hard" to "screw these invaders!".
Let me tell you something. I started playing this game about 4 months before the massive influx from WoW and the community was just as bad then as it is now.
The FFXIV community really isn't as warm and welcoming and helpful as you think it is. Just look at this thread alone. You have this "us vs them" mentality that causes you to blame every little thing on the "WoW refugees".
The only reason you think this community is so great is because you all band together if someone sais otherwise. It's a mob mentality and an unhealthy need to belong and feel like you're part of something.
You guys are very quick to jump down people's throats just for calling you out and having a different opinion than you.
Most WoW players are happy to be here, love the game and have nothing but respect and admiration for the game and it's development team. But here you are taking every opportunity to trash them.
You took time out of your day to come here and make a post ragging on an entire group of people that you seemingly dislike for the sole reason that they used to play a different video game than you.
And you know what? That's incredibly sad.
The hard truth is; your no different than the people you hate on. You're the exact same type of person as a "WoW player".
As for the "tanks get no respect" aspect of the post, wall to wall pulling has been a staple of this game long before the WoW influx. If you want to slow down and not pull wall to wall you only have the FFXIV community to blame for setting that standard.
Try to be a better person.
Adorable creatures with unacceptable features!
My only problem with tanking is when a new expansion / patch hits everybody already assumes you're going to do wall pulls, which isn't always a wise decision due to unfamiliarity with the new dungeons and gameplay tweaks potentially making them much more difficult to pull off. Even if it's not as fun, clearing dungeons without a wipe takes priority over efficiency on my first run (at least).
And yes, there is more pressure on tanks and healers because if they go down the DPS are likely to fall in short order unless you've got a quick combat rezzer. Outside of DPS checks it's rare for DPS to be vital to the completion of a fight; it might take a long time, but tanks and/or healers can win on their own.
P.S. One of the tags is literally "troll thread," so take OP's arguments with a pinch of salt.

I tank plenty (have 7 tanks across 4 chars), I'm also a healer main with 11 healers at 90. And let me give this to you straight - I don't need appreciation from people like you. In fact, I don't like tanking that much, and the main reason I tank is because I don't want to have someone like you being my tank.
On the subject of disability, just stop. I noticed there have been a rise in people just dropping the "I have disability!" left and right and expect other just bend to them or something. And again I will give this to you straight - I don't know if you actually have it, what I do know is it will rarely work the way you think it is. In real life, most institution will require you to provide medical documents and do an official intake before any accommodation is provided, your "behavior" is akin to a student who after blowing up the exam, come to the teacher and say "actually I have this, this and that disability, so I entitled to a passing grade and special treatment and you just have to take my word for it!". Yeah ... no, that ain't gonna happen. And since it's an online game with no way to verify, 99/100 players won't believe you, and the one person who does believe you ... let's say with your crappy entittled attitude in full display I bet that person wouldn't care anyway.
Like, seriously, just stop. The other day we had a healer who repeatably wipe the party in SAVAGE content. After like 5 wipes we asked if he/she knew the mechanic and the response was basically "I have autism so you all need to adjust to me 'cause I can't learn new stuff". I think the group was nice enough that no-one said anything, just a complete-uncomfortable silence. We were even considerate enough that no one left immediately despite all wanted to. We proceed to do 1 more pull, samething happened, and everyone left. I bet that person ended up on the a few blacklist.
If you ever wonder why the society/community ever grow more and more apathetic toward people with disability, then know it's people like you are one of the biggest contributing factor. It's no different than SWJs and fame seekers try to make everything and anything sexual harassment offense, and in the end the people who get dis-service the most are the real victim of sexual harassment.

Going to chime in on this... Although I mostly agree with you, I tend to be more respectful of others, regardless of ability, or other things unique to them.
I'm Autistic, with dyslexia (I use multiple spell correction aids and cheats), I'm older and have slower reflex and some limited joint movement due to arthritis. I Adjust for my own issues, you would never be able to tell when teamed with me I have these issues, because I use tools and aids to help myself become better than my disabilities. I use special Keypads and mice, and special keyboards, I run multiple monitors so I can keep raiding tutorials and help guides up while doing that content. I drink coffee to aid with my reaction times. I Adjust to keep up, and you know what if a 50+ year old Trans woman with Autism, Dyslexia, Arthritis, and poor eyesight can keep up without issue, anyone can.
Picture of my setup. Taken just now.

And you got my respect for that. I think a lot of people take the meaning behind disability the wrong way (this is talking in general, not just in game). Disability accommodations is meant to give people a meant to produce "the same level and quality of work" as a normal person, not a pass to produce something less. Like in school, accommodation is a way for someone with disabilities to produce the work that will earn them a good grade, not a way to for them to get free-grade or a grade above their level of submitted work.
While there are certainly some people with real disabilities and want to use it as a free-pass, in my experience most are acutely aware of the above. It is because they most likely had gone through situation where the letter of the law and policy had dictated to them what accommodation means and what they can and can not have. In fact, a lot of time their dignity will not let them "beg" for help, part of a training to staffs working with disabled people is avoiding being "too-helpful", after all we want them to have a sense of normalcy as much as possible.
That's why the majority of cases of "hey you must bend backward for me because I have disability you know!" came from people who are faking it with the assumption somehow that will earn them a free-pass, completely oblivious to the struggle and effort people with real disability have to go through to "appear normal", at the same stereotype the image of disabled people in a very bad way.
