feel like people see drk as a lot weaker than before. not because it has gotten weaker but because the other tanks got more selfheal in ew xD

It's gonna be a bad time only if they don't use TBN or you know, any of their other CDs.
I would rather heal any other Tank. Warrior is my favorite Tank to heal
I actually quite like having DRK tanks as a SGE because it means I'll actually generate Addersting for Toxikon.
While WAR/PLD might be easier to heal on wall to walls, I won't be generating much Addersting which means I'll be forced to use Phlegma for movement.
I switched to DRK for this expac after my previous main (Ninja) got nerfed and from that perspective I have noticed during the levelling process for the first three dungeons you really need to be using TBN on trash in addition to rotating your mitigation and to anyone new to the job it's a definite learning curve.
That being said now I'm leveling a healer (whm) I haven't really noticed DRKs being harder to heal. I normally don't have to keep as close an eye on them as Gunbreakers who always felt more squishy and pron to giving you surpise heart attacks with superbolide
It's really on the players, not the job. Gnbs need to play Aurora/Arms Length on engagement, Camo/HoC, then use Nebula > Rampart. It only becomes a apparent problem if they burn a lot of their cooldowns together in one build up. HoC is a really strong ability spammed.

^ This, exactly.
If one's good at healing DRK back in ShB, rest assured, healing them nowadays won't be much different. It's just because they buffed other tank's sustainability but leaving DRK with the leftover cookies crumbs, now that difference between their sustainability becomes more apparent than ever.
Thank you for the perspective and info. I wasn't 100% sure if it was a player skill issue or the job itself. When I played it I never found it difficult to mitigate myself but I haven't touched it since early ShB so I wasn't sure if my memory was correct, just knew that having GNBs has felt more touch and go but I'll own up to the fact I am a mediocre healer at best. It's really on the players, not the job. I don't think there is a real difference healing wise between DRK GNB and PLD. At least in dungeons during wall to wall pulls. Cause sometimes you get tanks who use their defense cooldowns and some who rely more on the healer to stay alive. So it's usually a coin toss what kind of tank I get. Though every time I get a warrior I feel redundant. Sure I need to heal every now and then but compared to the other tanks I barely have anything to do.
I don't heal dungeons very often (only have AST at 90, I'm a tank main and have all 4 tanks at 90), but I have no issues doing wall to wall pulls as DRK. Most of the time if something happens it's almost entirely on the healer, or group DPS is on the low side.
If a DRK isn't using TBN properly, they are going to be rough to heal. You have to use TBN.
