Wait I am confused.....People were complaining that there were no new servers coming. Now that they are announced they are coming and have an actual date on when people are now complaining because of uhhh....what? data center transfers? enough is never enough for some people I guess.

edit: Although I sometimes think it is indeed better to move in the long run. Even though I expect a lot of players will not outright move due to some concerns I think eventually it will slowly bleed the english playerbase such that in the future there might be too few left as players quit game etc. Since they will be funneling english players to the oceanic d/c. I experienced this back when I was in Masamune. It was the unofficial oceanic server back even in 1.0 but when tonberry and then kujata became the new unofficial oceanic servers in 2.0 onwards, the english playerbase in masamune dried up so much that I rarely meet one during my play time and so I moved to tonberry last year when I came back to this game after I took a break after heavensward.

I'm part of a fairly small, but tight EN FC with people from all over the world; NA, EU, SEA, JP, OCE, and even the Middle East. I expect that Atomos will see an initial drop when we lose people to Materia, but we may see an increase from people in other regions that get better ping from JP DCs in the long run. We've got a fair number of native EN speakers who live in Japan on our server too. That demographic will likely be our best source of EN speakers going forward.

Yea it will be a tough decision for SE players like me. Unlike australians and NZ players who will get a big improvement in their ping, SE Asia players like me might actually even have worse ping connecting to Australia. At best the ping will be the same so it all comes to population and community. This for me is what is important. If I moved and I don't enjoy it then there would have been zero benefit since ping wise I already don't have benefit haha
