What do you want done with Guild Marks? Your feedback to developers!

Howdy!

Just wanted to let you know ahead of time that in patch 1.21 it will be possible to exchange guild marks for items such as different varieties of materia, shards, crystals, and clusters. We will be listing the exchange rates in the patch notes, so please check them out.

As a side note, we will not be making new methods in which to obtain guild marks as we will be eliminating them from the game in 2.0.

Can us Alchemists get a dev response as to just what exactly we are supposed to use to break down clusters into crystals and a better way than fine sand to break crystals into shards? As far as many of us can tell, the new recipes do not address this!

I would have liked to been able to purchase items that I missed from other Grand Companies with my remaining guild marks.

I'd say slowly get rid of them. When I say slowly, I mean some system where you can exchange guildmarks for 2-3x more experience for some given time.

I just hope that they dont give up on the guilds altogether, and it seems like they are moving away from using them. I always say them as a great potential launching point for more story, more cs's, job specific gear rewards, ect. yet they never really seem to utilize them for this. Seems like a shame, it was one of the few features in the original version of the game that I actually liked.

Indeed, what a massive load of bollocks. They have no imagination whatsoever. So bascialy was a complete waste of time getting those guild marks for the first year of playing. They couldnt think of anither way to use them. Yep just take the easy mode and give us shards. thanks /facepalm

As if we deserve some special award for collecting guild marks.../facepalm.

They could take them out w/o giving anything in exchange, since we got all the skills from Marks by default, so what's the big deal? All we did to get those marks were leves and Class Quests...not as if wouldn't have done them anyway...

Some people are just way above their heads...you did nothing special to get those marks, so why would you deserve anything special in exchange?...

It's not so much expecting something special than a complete lack of creativity there. I'm disappointed they're getting rid of Guild Marks for good, they could have a special use later on. One suggestion I made a long time ago were special missions you could undertake by spending marks from a given guild. Reward could be a boosted amount of gil, or special items not obtainable by other means.

Hell, there's mention of special class specific gear being released in the future, why can't we just use marks to buy those? Marks are specifically mentioned as being a form of currency for special goods and services from those respective guilds, offering class (not job) specific gear via marks would suit that. Guild marks have so much potential but telling us "Oh you can have shards, crystals, or some clusters for these. Maybe some materia too." seems so lacking. Right now I have over 5-8K of every kind of shard, so I really have no reason to waste my marks on these. With the new job equipment being so much better than crafted double/triple melded gear there's not much use for materia. Even now the market wards tend to be overstocked with materia that people just don't want. So unless they offer some absolutely amazing materia (Something better than just stat boosting/aliment resistant materia.) in exchange, you're still better off not really wasting your time.

This would give people with more Guild Marks an advantage over people without them, or with less.
Which pretty much implies that people who got more, want special treatment for getting those, compared to players who didn't get them cause they either didn't gather enough, or started too late when they were already gone.

It's all about balance...you can't hand out cookies with those super tasty chocolate chips to those who happened to play earlier/more, while everyone else is getting nothing.

I agree that GC Seals would have been nice and would not effect the balance between people who had Marks, and those who didn't.

But if they would add CSE, or JSE for Marks that you can't get by any other means, that would effect the balance in a way where it's just not "fair" to other players. It would only be okay, if that CSE, or JSE had no stats at all that would improve your performance in said class.

It has nothing to do with bad design, bad decisions or severe lack of creativity...

If you are told you will gain 1 lvl for a quest PLUS Marks to get abilities with and a few months later you will get those abilities by default and your marks are returned...how does that qualify you for any sort of "special" compensation? You did what you would have done anyway...now you want a fucking prize for it?

5,697 alchemist marks
2.597 botany marks?

then give us 21936 company seals.

people may cry its too many but seriously, with gatherers and crafters manuals, it wont last long.

or give us 50/50 seals and gill. although TBH 1 guild mark should be worth like 100 gill for all the hastle of getting them. (and yes there IS hastle of getting them, go to av guild, chat to npc, navigate sluggish menu's, go to location, nagivate another sluggish menu, kill mobs, nagivate another sluggish menu)

Nice thought but it would have to be like 1000 to 1 or more than that ratio, I got people in my LS that have like 250,000 marks in 1 craft alone. Whereas mine is like a total of 150k, they total out around a million.

I too would like to see the GC seals or other items like even Ifrit or Moogle totems for an extreme amount.
