TBH i've begun to feel like seasonal caps are just the way to go for currencies these days, they started doing it in WoW and it's been nice. You can catch up if you want to grind it all out.

Imagine seeing the PFs in day 1-2 demanding full i590 tome gear. Ya’all think you can grind all those tomes in such a short period of time? Somebody can, and will enforce these limitations. Sooner or later it could also be the norm cause higher ilv means easier time to clear.
Yet not everybody has that abundant time to grind. Imho the current weekly cap is fine, the good middle ground we needed.

You're right that the dying kids have nothing to do with the cap, but I disagree with you on everything else. Maybe the fights are trivial to you, but even on normal level, I find them to be quite challenging and have yet to complete one without dying at least once. As for the reason behind the cap, it's honestly for the high end raiders. The cap allows them to experience a sense of progression for at least a few weeks before their entire group is completely decked out in BiS and facerolling all the bosses. The average player barely even notices the cap. As for me, I kind of like the cap because once I hit it, I can run my lower level jobs through the duty roulette for experience without feeling guilty about missing out on high end tomestones.Lol it's not because kids were dying, SE is a business and they understand what it takes to get people logging back in to keep playing. Sure Yoshi P may say "Take breaks, play other games" But you and I both know that's not how people play MMORPGs and SE knows it as well. lezard was right, it's because they need to pad out their content. FF14 launched with hardly anything to do at max level, we got two EX bosses that were some of the easiest fights in this games history, and now a raid where again the bosses are insanely easy and dumbed down.

They changed based on equipment cost, and there was also a belt that needed to be bought if savage was not BiS previously as well. If anything there was an back-handed improvement with EW.Tbf, it used to be 300/week. The 2000 caps, likewise, used to be far less. So, numbers can change. They already have, after all.
It's FOMO so long as people believe they will have less content available to them as a result of getting the rewards of the weekly cap later than others, such as by being locked out of parties in Week 2/3, when they have next have time to really play, because those parties are now asking for over i580. We see this most tiers, so that fear isn't unjustified.
I'd argue that we should definitely still have caps, but I see nothing wrong with having seasonal caps instead of punishing players for having to take a week off from hitting their 5+ Expert Roulettes quota.
I really like the idea of a 'carry over' system for leftover tomes you didn't get in week 1. It keeps the 450 weekly cap so ppl don't burn through all the gear in a couple of days, but those who couldn't play can catch up the next week when they have time.
I've had a couple of friends who wished for the same carry over for roulettes. They often don't get any time during the week to play, but have all day sat/sun, and wished they could use up their weekly roulettes on the weekend.
Youre talking as if there not at least 50% PFs that demand the max current ilvl even if you have to eat crap stats for that lolImagine seeing the PFs in day 1-2 demanding full i590 tome gear. I do actually think a weekly rollover of tomestone cap and a daily one for roulettes would be a good thing overall, akin to how we have our levequest allowances banked even if we don't use them on the day we get them. Not like a huge rollover or anything, but at least one week of capped tomestone rollover (so your cap could go to 900 if you had to be away for a week) and maybe 3 days of roulettes (so you could have up to 3 banked 'reward not claimed' for, say, Expert roulette), meaning if you had to be away for a few days on a business trip or took a weekend to spend time with visiting family or whatever, you wouldn't be losing out. But you wouldn't be able to gain those rewards faster than someone who wasn't having them go unused and rolled over.I really like the idea of a 'carry over' system for leftover tomes you didn't get in week 1. This game does try -- outside of savage -- to give you the option of walking away for a little while to deal with Life or whatever else, without having to also give up major in-game benefits. The whole "you must be on every day or you lose your roulette rewards!" does seem a little counter to that.
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer
