Armor Glamours

Hi, I'm a level 88 Astrologian and I am wondering, is there any way I can glamour my armour to look like the Paladin armour from the Endwalker Trailer because that armour is possibly my favourite armour.

I would really like the ability to glamour weapons so I could carry a sword, instead of a magical tarot card globe.

I'm sorry to say this, but no there is not. Yoshi made it quite clear years ago (back during the Beta test in fact) that he wants each class/Job to have it's own unique identity, and that means no cross glamouring of class-specific gear.

The whole point of Job specific gear (Artifact Armour or 'AF' for short) is it is meant to represent the classic appearence of that Job in past FF games (or at least aspire to), so hence why you cannot use PLD AF on your AST for instance (as I recall Yoshi specifically used the example of "not wanting a WHM to look like a PLD" to explain his feelings on the subject).

There is at least one glamour armour set available that you could use on your AST if you still want an armoured caster look (the Legacy Warrior's set rewarded in a past Rising event, which is now for sale on the Mogstation), but AF especially will always remain Job locked as that it's whole purpose for existing in the first place I'm sorry to say.

Yeah but I'm an Astrologian that can't even wear the BEST thing about my job... the hat. Also, I really don't want to play Paladin because I don't want to be a tank so that sucks.

For the most part you’re going to have to stick to glamour within your role. Your weapon can only be glammed to other style of your specific job weapon. There are also pieces than can be used with any role. That paladin set is specifically for paladin unfortunately.

You'll never be able to wear another classes artifact armor directly; you'll have to become that class yourself.

There are only a very few armor-looking pieces that all classes can wear, unfortunately.

I can get behind wearing more types of armor since I glam casual stuff but why would an AST wear a sword? That just makes no sense.

As ridiculous as I often find that to be, I think it's less about making sure a paladin looks like a paladin, and more that something else *doesn't*. In other words, if you see someone who looks like a paladin, chances are high that it is in fact a paladin and not a red mage.

(That said, as dumb as I think the mascot outfits are, props to the Roegadyn guy who always wears the chocobo head and named himself "Kwehstopher Warken". I gotta admire someone willing to commit that deeply to a pun.)

There is some healer gear in the game that looks armoured and isn't too far off what some tank gear looks like, but you will never be able to glam your weapon into a weapon for another job. SE have shot this down already. They want jobs to look distinct from one another and being able to glam weapons from other jobs would completely ruin that.

Never mind how being able to glam weapons from other jobs would make ability animations look really bad. Certainly as a sch I would look like I'm trying to decapitate myself every time I casted a spell if I glammed my book into an axe.

And sorry to say this but between this thread and your other thread lamenting the absence of class specs because you want to play a healer paladin...bro, this game isn't WoW. It's totally fine if you prefer how WoW does some things, but some of the things you're asking for would make FFXIV lose some of the pivotal things that makes it distinct from WoW. You have to accept that classes/jobs are handled differently in different games.

And yet we have DRK katanas, a PLD gunblade, and a whole host of non-RPR scythes.
