



Tanking's different. You have to actually use mitigation abilities in between spamming the same boring ability over and over and over and over and over again. You have to actually use Sentinel and Rampart sometimes.
I can BS about how "hard" a role is too.

There is a difference between pressing Mitgation because you want to keep it up 100% of the time so you reduce damage,and having to think about what spell to heal how much, how to shield, how to regen, WHO to heal, WHO to res etc, heck even placing shields can be a pain with aiming positioning etc
There is a difference between pressing Healing that can be used 100% of the time so long as one isn't already going to max their HP and having to think about how much damage is incoming, over what span, from what type, whether to use short mitigation, longer mitigation, personal or raid, in what sequence and at what precise times, and how to dodge and reposition bosses to minimize positional burden for melee DPS.There is a difference between pressing Mitgation because you want to keep it up 100% of the time so you reduce damage,and having to think about what spell to heal how much, how to shield, how to regen, WHO to heal, WHO to res etc, heck even placing shields can be a pain with aiming positioning etc
...You see how irrelevant the word soup is in either case?
I just solo'd the last boss of Tower of Babil along with Venaspati from 50% hp as a WAR. Everyone else had died and then they just watched as I took down the bosses myself. At no point did I come close to dying, I was constantly rotatiing through damage mitigations and self heals. This shouldn't even be possible. How is this not overpowered when I can outright solo bosses?

Doing it just because you can is a dick move though. You didn't just waste your own time but the time of 3 other people. Thats not exclusive to WAR either a PLD can easily pull that off too not sure about GNB but I can see them being able to do some bosses like that too. I know, I was being sarcastic since that's an argument that comes back whenever something is OP or underpowered in dungeons. Obviously a job should be enjoyable in all content, and having some being vastly superior or basically making others optional even in one specific type of content is an issue.
Plus, niche or not, dungeons are a massive part of the game that you HAVE to play through before getting to raids anyway.
How is that a dick move? If you die you only get to blame yourself for it and shouldnt expect others to follow suit for your own comfort of being. If Squeenix designs a possibility that Tanks are able to solo content like that, then blame the people who designed the game, not the Player utilizing said method, since theyre the reason why this is a thing in the first place.Doing it just because you can is a dick move though. Also the argument that doing things like that being "a waste of time" is a completely moot point. Video Games in general, are a waste of time, so if you dont like it, then you should reconsider your priorities.
The sad thing is, that two expansions ago it used to be. Mostly because it actually required some skill and generally couldn't be done for that long. Now it just feels like the tank's being obnoxious and wasting everyone's time.
Alternatively it's just the healer who dies and then feels pathetically useless, as the party does the 50% of the last boss with zero need for them, because war/pld + dnc/rpr can just take care of their entire role while doing way more damage.
Btw, since Yoshi P's entire argument against hard 4 man content was putting too much burden of the healer and wiping when they die - as those things are clearly no longer a concern, can we just get our 4 man savage now?
