Why does Yoshida keep using Covid-19 as an excuse for delays or setbacks?

Aside from the obvious fact that covid and lockdowns have caused utter chaos is almost every industry on earth I think people who complain about this kind of thing also underestimate just how tight the crunch is in the gaming industry, and especially at SE. You would have to have the empathy of a genuine psychopath to miss the genuine conflict Yoshida had about delaying Endwalker so close to release, the game obviously wasn't quite ready and that's after a lengthly development cycle. WHen everything is that tight it's not hard to imagine how complications caused by the pandemic can really effect the end product.

As for server issues, in my opinion the conspiracy theoirists who think the parts shortages are a hoax are just as dumb as any othe conspiracy theorist, right up there with flat earthers and fake moon landers. GFX cards have doubled in price, you can't get a PS5 even if you sacrifice your granny and the car industry can't keep up with demand, businesses from all walks of the economy and the media are all talking about it. To claim SE are just using it as an excuse is rediculous and just proves that anyone making that claim hasn't been out of the house in about 5 years.

I work in the tech sphere. Many of my friends are in tech, one is a VP at a company that runs servers. Unless you are a FAANG company or a chipset maker like Intel, nVidia, or AMD, you aren't getting anything anytime soon. Though even nVidia and AMD have trouble getting stuff. The waitlists are very long.

I have noticed with just about every single delay, setback, or inconvenience, from creative business unit 3 (Yoshida’s group) the excuse is always Covid. I understand it’s serious, but …

Weird that the global pandemic is the cause of a lot of problems isn't it? It's almost like it's crippled and restricted global travel and destroyed entire industries.

Server congestion
World visit queue
World transfer being down for weeks possibly months
Queue wait time kicks
And even the delay of FF16

Do you know what all of these have in common? High tech components are required for their operation and expansion! The same high tech components that are *GASP* having a supply shortage for the past 3 years which has been exacerbated by the global pandemic!!!

Naoki Yoshida’s public statement for just about each of these has been “Covid complications”….when employees have the option of working from home, and I assume each employee is vaccinated and wearing a mask.

YOU ASSUME INCORRECTLY!!! Every country has people who refuse or are UNABLE to follow these steps, causing further complications and delays!

You cannot just use “Covid” as an excuse for everything that goes wrong. Please own up to your mistakes and just say you were not prepared for this and didn’t plan ahead..

You cannot! however you can very plausibly blame a lack of capacity for servers on the delays and shortages caused by the pandemic and guess what every single thing you listed up there depends on. I'll give you 3 guesses and the first 2 don't count!

If anyone could have planned ahead for
A. A shortage of semi-conductors crippling supply and production of high tech components
B.A global pandemic that would freeze industry and absolutely hamstring travel and shipping for the entire planet.
C. a tripling in active users within a few months of launch of one of the most anticipated expansions they've ever had.
Those people would be psychic and/or laughed out of the office for making such ridiculous predictions.
