    It holds the job back because it's the only mechanic keeping the job together. Because TBN is so powerful, it would be busted if something like Oblation had the effects of the other tank CDs. A big reason why we don't get big, more powerful skills is because of how good TBN is and I really don't see a future with this skill alone unless they do some god like expanding on it. Then again, wouldn't it just be easier to make the other 3 job resources mean something? Rather than putting all the effort into one skill alone. Basically, they can't keep riding on TBN alone without at least expanding upon it in an interesting way.

    This isn't to say I don't like TBN though. I love counter attack moves and if things like Shield Swipe procs could be gained from putting Intervention on someone else, that would be great tank design. Actually rewarding you for defending. People tend to forget that we're tanks and don't really want to be scuffed DPS.

    I don’t care how much damage a job does and I never will. I will gladly be dead last in dps if that is what it takes for it to not be neglected.

    Using high dps as a reason to say drk is fine is like saying SB drk was fine because it was part of world first Ucob. The devs didn’t need to rework smn in EW or remove greased lightning from mnk either then since they both performed fine.

    Yes the dungeon performance of drk is a key issue many people brought up but now it’s just being used as a straw man because it’s “casual content” which doesn’t matter when compared to raids and trials.

    Most people’s issue with drk lies with the job design(lack there of) and the job basically getting hand me downs from other jobs.

    Post rework darkside is just a fancy storms eye from war, current iteration of black blood and delirium is just worst beast gauge and inner release from war, and dark missionary is just copy and paste from gnb. Our old dark arts is given to sge and rpr got scourge and sole survivor into one skill. We have not gotten a single new weaponskill or gcd for two expansions and it’s been jut soul eater since 4.0.

    Half of our job mechanic is copy and pasted from another job and half of our old mechanics is given to new jobs. And what we got this expansions are just two extra dps buttons to press every few minutes. Why are we not allowed to be upset? Just because we do more damage? Imagine the outrage if enhanced unmend was given to any other tank but it’s fine for us because half of our kit is just fluff anyway.

    3. What is DRK's intended role? At this point, I'm not even sure SE knows. If it's a "tank" it can get through the savage raids. But you're right, every class probably has a flaw and DRK's is easily seen.

    People say they don't care about high dps but probably struggle to understand how fun it is to have high dps as a tank AND do proper mitigation tank mechanics. I myself struggle to have competant DPS as tanks myself cause I have simple minded brain but feel so elated when I see I managed to complete an encounter with a pretty decent performance. Like you don't really need a perfect group make up to have high decent personal dps.

    But, what good is it gonna do you to have high sustain when most people can't do limit cut properly in P2S. I still see warriors get one shotted during EX1 tank buster. Whats a cooldown? I don't think ive seen that yet with a dark. (im sure it happens tho)

    People who say "we just wanna tank" are the same as healers who use to say I just wanna heal. You can still do that, nothing stopping you guys from doing that. But quite frankly, thats basic af and boring IMHO

    Yeah, that is fun - as long as that high dps comes from engaging damage mechanics within the job, but DRK haven't had any of those since 5.0.
