    As for Dancers, I'm not seeing too much reason as to why they can't throw different things. Just have the weapon held in a way that matches the idle animation: Multiple throwing knives in hand, handle for a boomerang, etc.
    Paladins had a... Paddle looking thing in ARR lol.

    Honestly, I would love to switch weapon types between roles, and yes, I know it's unrealistic and they wouldn't put in this sort of effort for customization options, but using a Zweihander as Paladin, Axe as DRK or Sword and Shield as WAR would be really cool. I think GNB is the only one in the tank role that would have to remain exclusive.

    That was a macuahuitl, which was the Mesoamerican equivalent of a sword. Basically a club edged with sharp pieces of obsidian but still close enough to a sword.

    In 1.0 and very early ARR, PLD branched out more and had access to daggers before they became a NIN weapon. But FFXIV was built around weapon types determining classes from 1.0 and except for things like giant iron clubs for DRK and hammers for WAR, there hasn't been much wiggle room and with how much SE cuts for time I don't see them changing combat stances and animations to allow for weapon variety.
