Reading comprehension 101: nowhere in the CEO's letter is there mention of NFTs in any of their MMO properties.

Considering that the so-called "mobile" game sector of the company accounts for over 48% of revenues from the Digital Entertainment group, with regular video games accounting for another 30%, and MMO games accounting for about 22% of revenues as of 2022/Q3 [https://www.hd.square-enix.com/eng/i...2q2slides.pdf], I highly suspect that anything dealing with "Tokens" of any kind will be part of the mobile game sector.

The shareholder letter is old news, by the way. And their stated philosophy was more like: "In addition to the sort of content creation we have traditionally engaged in, we will focus on blockchain games premised on token economies as a form of decentralized content" (slide 25 of the quoted source).

Reading comprehension 101: nowhere in the CEO's letter is there mention of NFTs in any of their MMO properties.

Nobody failed to interpret anything, they're just able to see more than 6 inches in front of their own faces, and are concerned what the implications might be for future titles.

Also, I suspect that, like myself, they don't want to see them take root even outside of MMOs.
