If a game publisher starts requiring spending real money on top of a subscription to have access to the full game (retainers not included) then I've got an issue.

Lets say it came to FFXIV

The most obvious method would be attaching them to things like Glamour items and emotes to start with. And then allow Companies or Individuals to create the glamour or emote and sell them with the NFT attached too it. SE would have some form of approval process before allowing it too be sold. And they would be limited in number, lets say 1000 of them. And then anyone else that wants the thing in question would have to buy it off the other player, most likely for a much higher rate.

Square would obviously have some sort of commission for reselling, lets say 5% for each transaction. Which allows them to profit off other peoples work and all future transactions of that NFT going forward.

Honestly I think most people would be onboard this at first. As it would be toted as a way to support the creators of the items.

Where it goes from there? Who knows, they could start attaching it housing items, the houses themselves, mounts? Just use your imagination

For those of us who lived through the release of horse armor, you can see why a lot of us don't like where this is going. Because its going to quickly become an enormous circus.

And the worst part, is they could achieve this same goal of allowing modders and creators to profit off their work with a simple addon shop. Sell the stuff for a set price with them taking a cut, and have none of the NFT crap attached too it. They are literally already doing this with the new 3D audio addon thing. Which has been handled poorly from my understanding. But you get the point. Plus there would be no artificial scarcity involved.
