I mean, currently out in the market the other MMOs aren't even at the same level as WoW or FF14.

GW2 is okay but it isn't better than either - objectively.

We don't talk about ESO. It went full cash shop and coin route long ago.

SWTOR has a big remake coming. Currently it's far inferior.

New World burned very quickly and is still a grindy, buggy, lack of content mess.

I honestly love chaotic runs. I giggle in glee if I get to chain raise and heal/use Rescue. It's what makes it exciting! If it's 90 minutes but fun I vastly prefer that over 20 minutes where nothing happens.

    This is spot on.

One of the best things about ffxiv from my experience is how friendly, forgiving, and helpful the community is towards new players.
Especially sprouts doing content blind or for the first time.
It was almost a culture shock after coming from WoW.

Trying to gatekeep DF, and flaming newer players is not a good path to go down.

We don’t all have to take a dump of superiority all over the op because we disagree with them.
Duty finder is for all kinds of players. Trusts shouldn’t necessarily be where you go before you are able to jump into random df parties. However, if you aren’t sure how to play your clsss, trusts is a good place to learn.
Also, in reality, the op isn’t wrong when they say player skill has dwindled. Let’s at least accept that as truth. If you can’t, you may be part of the problem and are having a hard admitting you need to improve

Coming from a game where a Elitist Jerk runs the place you come to expect this as the norm. I was hoping I would not run into so much of this here.

Why? Don't like it? Then let's revert to old-school gaming where skill and dedication are rewarded.

The OP is wrong though. The average distribution of skill remains the same. The thing is there are A LOT more people and a lot of NEW people. So the chances of you getting someone who's either new and unfamiliar (in which case you can teach them after one or two deaths), or simply not skilled, are higher.

Let's not get all hoity toity and act like FFXIV used to have a concentration of high skill players. Hardcore raiders and Extreme/Ultimate/Savage content has always been a minority. All the new people simply lack experience and familiarity. Lets give them that chance.

can I suggest don't use the Duty Finder if you don't want to play with random player's. Have you considered the reason why there is a big experience bonus for those that use it? This is a very smart by SE

The op is not wrong. You can see it in nearly any alliance raid. People either are incapable of comprehending mechanics or refuse to. Any time I personally say anything about how a mechanic is done, it gets dismissed as “it’s just X raid” or dungeon or whatever. This community excuses poor play and finishes the value of learning how to be better. You don’t have to be doing savages or extremes to try and handle mechanics properly or know your rotations. Let’s not pretend like there are bad players out there and on top of them, people who excuse them so they don’t get better
