Final Fantasy XIV and PS3

I've been playing this game on my laptop(macbook pro 2010) since game release supposedly till Square-Enix eventualy releases a ps3 version of the game. With NGP(PSP2) coming out this year and ps3 graphics getting quickly outdated i wonder how much longer will it take sony to announce PS4. With this said I'd really like to know if a ps3 version of the game is still comming out or not. I can afford a decent desktop PC for FF14 but i don't wanna be wasting money on a system and afew weeks/months later PS3 version is announced. So yeah, im stuck with low frame rates, most visuals turn off and w/o info on a PS3 release. It would be awesome if Square-Enix posts something about the ps3 version since they havent mentioned it since december.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 are the latest generation consoles, they're not being replaced anytime soon -- even then people still develop for the PS2 in Japan, so it would never be a waste of money.

They won't post anything on the PS3 version till it gets closer to being ready, as they said a few times already.

Agree with Jennestia. I'm not sure why you think the PS3 graphics are becoming outdated. I do believe one could count on one hand the amount of games made for the PS3 that fully use its processing and graphic capabilities. SE has plenty of time to develop the PS3 version, and I personally hope they take their time. I want it to be complete and perfect before it's released.

They didn't even start to announce a PS4 (or the nextx box at that), there aren't even any solid rumors about them. When the first rumors start to surface, it'll be a couple years before the actual release. This generation probably just reached the halfway point.

The fact that Both Sony and Microsoft released major new control schemes just lately (Kinect and Move) is a clear signal that both the PS3 and the 360 have quite a few years of activities as the flagship of both devs.

I believe there is a rumor for a ps4 in 2015 and the new xbox will be displayed at some convention next year, so no release next year i think. But either way those consoles will not come in a long time. If you want to spend the money on a new pc then go ahead and do so, it won't be a waste.
And besides, those console can do a lot i must say. More and more games that come out show what both xbox and playstation are capable of. So I wouldn't worry about that, spend it lol

Thing is if FF14 ever sees a ps3 release that new pc would be a waste cause id buy it for FF14 only since my laptop is more then enough for my work needs. I do all my other gaming on ps3.

Even though I don't think it will happen, I'm still hoping for an Xbox port. I dislike the PS controllers so much.

If you absolutely don't need anything else with your laptop, don't buy the pc. In that case it would be a waste of money. But if your job requires a better pc next year, and you can't deal with these settings, why not go ahead and buy something you need instead of getting the highest settings for this game.
Personaly i will be getting a new pc in the next 6 months, but thats also because i play games so now and then on them, and want to get some new programs.

not true. ps3 is their larger playerbase in japan.
