I do apologize. And only to you, Jola. It appears like I caused your thread to spiral and that wasn't my intention. I know it's hard for us to get hairstyles that accurately represent the cultures we've grown up in. And I'll always sympathize with your goal.Pretty sure you said ugly right there… Anyways instead of being somehow triggered by a simple hairstyle request for a game and dancing around the point by making excuses for why they shouldn’t be implemented, i’d prefer it if you just said you don’t want them in the game period at least that way you’d be being more honest. - _ -
This thread needs to be locked.
I see more insult exchanges and passive aggressive hostilities flying back and forth than any real merited discussion. This thread is off topic now and just basically who can fish for likes by insulting each other. The immaturity is disgusting to read.
I think I've seen like, 2-3? games get curly or wavy right, while it looks like a hot mess in almost every other game unless it's scanned or crafted for an important character
I think you're expecting too much of SE, though, just take a look at the reused armours in EW
Despite our differing perspectives, I appreciate your civility.I mean that is life people will having differing views and thresholds for what they obnoxious, and or questionable behavior / actions. That said i will agree that the silly and witty comment does not apply to your statement. Though i do get where they are coming from i live with the type that are overly obnoxious about their pride,
I do not think your statement falls in that lines for me personally, but as mentioned everyone has a different threshold, and they are free to feel as such just as you are free to feel a certain way. I still do question it, but I understand where you are coming from though.
Curly hair that is parted, brushed and untied is "messy". Ok.
Mentioning your ethnicity in a thread about HAIR STYLES is obnoxious and not relevant at all. Ok.
It's funny. I never see any criticism towards guys who mention "I like playing male characters because I'm a guy." Everyone immediately understands the concept of wanting to relate to your character in a role playing game. Weird, huh?

Double standard. I also don’t get any pushback when I say I play mostly female characters cause I’m a woman. * shrug *Curly hair that is parted, brushed and untied is "messy". Ok.

Hair is pretty huge in my respective culture - especially for women because our hair has a unique texture due to our race. So I found it relevant.
Agreed.
Honestly ANY other texture/ hairstype bc right now its either straight or somewhat wavy or spiky borderline mullet
i have very curly tailbone length hair and would really appreciate more diversity (texture types and styles) in the hairstyle departments.
would be really nice. there is a hairstyle megathread. https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...es-Facial-Hair
your elezen is so lovely
sorry to get off topic
more hairstyles! woo!
since this was something i literally thought yesterday and told so too to my roommate:
bald head for female character. i think i'd love that.
not gonna start disclosing what i look like or where the heck i am from.
just that my "at least top20+ real life women with bald head" are without exception black women, and that's he ideal look for bald woman for me when i think about it. you make me wanna cut my "past the butt" length hair.
we have one dreadlock-like hairstyle in this game and it is fem only right?
so, yeah, give us extra or two and give it to guys too! cornrows, dreadlocks, box braid-like hair, and elfknots. all sound like they chould have place and space in on hydaelyn and among it's cultures.

IDK why the OP decided to list "Curly/Wavy/Messy/Afro" and then reiterate that twice more (like, wtf are you even saying? Trying to equate these textures with being "messy"? Cause, there are "messy" hairstyles in this game when you look at the "Anime protag bed head" styles like Saintly and Early to Rise ... so wtf you mean?) but I'm not gonna bother trying to unpack w/e "that" is.
Anyway, Black and would love to have Black hair options. I think Highlanders are the best looking females in this game body wise, but the fact that they don't get the 1 okish looking black hairstyle that's race locked to middies AND their lack of black facial features makes them turn out looking like brown PoC instead of black. More black hair would def do a lot to fix this. (I mean, going by what the murals and Concept Art show, I'm 100% going for Hrothgal when they come and hoping they have shared hairs, so I've prob never gonna try Highlander again. But either way, playing a Viera or Hrothgal that can have good-looking black/ cury hair would be great!)
Being realistic, the only way I see it happening is via the old hairstyle contest. Over the years, the devs have only made non-hair contest hairstyles as either fan service (the NIER raid hairs/ stuff from other FF games like Windcaller or cutter or w/e) or to give people long straight hair cause none of the winners were long hairstyles.
The hairstyle contest had a grand total 3 black hairstyles (The Femroe braids aren't REALLY black but "it'll work")

Given the rate at which they release hair, and the fact that they've only recently started doing non-winners ... we could see them in the next big patch or "not even in 7.0" :/
EDIT- IDK what the person above me is talking about, but Elezen females can be bald. They are the only females who can be bald as it's a racial hairstyle .... not many Elezen Females, and I've never seen 1 use that style, so I guess that may be why most wouldn't know that..
