Are melds and super gear really necessary?

that would be awesome! People may camp NMs again. I sorta miss the competition from HNMs like in my 11 days.

What it boils down to is Materia is a great idea but the execution seems less than stellar... Which could be because the materia system we see now is still not finished... Just another example of SE releasing systems in micro-parts

Imagine if some NM had 1 materia that gave 50 int, 40 Magic Att, +50 Crit Rate and could only be melded onto a Maleficent Mogstaff (They'd just have to make that NM hard as crap)

It can be done, but better gear makes run faster or more efficient. You definitely will not get Moogle's speedrun without Ifrit's bow however.

that comes down to players level. either they are really good or the rest of the party is quite bad. i'd laugh at the results if he used the actual high end bow and compared it to the rest of the group.

I am hoping the steps they are taking with AF is one in the general right direction.

If they continue to add new U/U which has stats better than 2 times melds, the majority of people will be good with that, I now I sure would especially considering I'm only 1 times melded at the moment.

Please Yoshida tell us you have seen the error of your ways

i hope he goes away from the u/u gear making crafted gear worthless. people wonder why the economy in game is dead and this is one of the main reasons, but people seem happy with that part of it.

fyi Xak, this whole thing might not even be perceived as an issue once we have AF gear. We have no idea what the stats are like on that gear yet.
