    maiming usually shares models with fending because dragoon is a dragon knight. (80% sure at some point it was meant to be an off-tank job)

    but i get what you mean, class identity in role gear is pretty much non-existant and yet its still weirdly restricted.

    In ARR, they shared a lot of tank gear. The problem was that they were never very good at being off-tanks (and any content that would actually need an off-tank would have an actual second tank anyway), so it was quietly dropped before Heavensward.
