Make different ear hole configurations to hats to properly accommodate their 4+ ear options? That's at least 4 times more work than any other race gets for things to fit their head.

That's not a problem with the hat, that's a problem with the ears.
The ear hair is different for each set of ears and is a part of their geo. So like I said, they either turn off the ears or do a stupid amount of work to make them "work" in a way that looks right, or let them clip and look trash.

Again, remake viera to have one type of ear and give us access to everything. Or let the ears clip. Or grab a modder and let them do the work of hairs and hats and SE can control quality. It has been two frikkin years...

I don't know why everyone complains about the ear clipping here. Au Ra horns clip through every single head piece in the game and we live with it. It's no big deal and you can choose not to wear it. I'm so thankful SE let Viera use this hat.

Don't wear the hats if you don't want the ears to clip. It's this kind of comment that probably makes them hesitate about pushing forward with hats. Tail and horn clipping has been a thing for years.

Honestly, I'm low-key disgusted at people who would complain about ears going through the hats... We have almost no head options to wear, just get over it like the Au'Ra got over their horns situation, you barely hear them complaining.

Completely agree with you here. It's better to have something rather than close to absolutely nothing when it comes to Viera wearing hats. I want to wear caster hats as a caster; I want to have access to the dragoon helms and tank helms if I desire to use them, and I want to have usage of hats as a ranged DPS. Having the ears clip through is honestly not that big of a deal, though tbh the only ears that the Viera have for both genders that might look ugly without adjustment when it comes to hats is the lop ears (granted I don't like the lop ears with how odd they look to begin with).

With more players now, there is the potential for new artists and ideas..

a new hairstyle contest with viera/hrothgar included in the designs. i imagine due to the disappointment from the last turnout- more/fresh ideas would be more prevalent this time around if they ever hold another.

This topic is so fascinating because ... no one knows how to fix this in a way that makes everyone happy without the devs doing far, FAR more work and using more resources for Viera than they devote for any other race.

All these are non-starters.

They will NEVER take away player's options after giving them to them. We know this from Elezen, IIRC a JP player asked if they could fix their run animation and YP said "Elezen players may play Elezen because they like that, so nope". (You may ask "Why not make it an option, like Cpose?" ... welp, you do that for 1 and now you gotta do that for everyone because everyone's gonna want something for their race.)

"This art looks cute, clipping doesn't matter!" 2D art is not the same as 3D models. Trash clipping can not only look terribly distracting, but can also be game and immersion breaking. Like, say what you will, but I'd say this isn't a popular Viera glam for a clear reason.

It's not that Modders know something SE doesn't, SE just seem to not have found away to make this work in a way that they would be happy with and/ or think players would be happy with that also wouldn't require more time and effort than they spend on any other Race AND respects the race's main feature. I completely believe them when they say these races were not designed for this head stuff, every core design decision makes it clear.
