Noaki Yoshida in one interview told that if players are bored with the game or if they have completed all PVE content then they should take a break and come back in the next patch. Frankly speaking this is very damaging to the game and to square enix as a whole because its an mmorpg and players play mmorpg to commit long term. Look at the WoW director, Ion Hazzikotas. He never told players to take a single break from WoW. Infact he gives players new ideas on how to play WoW differently when they get bored or during a content drought but never once he said to take a break.

When I play an mmorpg I play it non stop for 10+ years without taking breaks and I am sure there are millions of players like me who think the same way. Majority of mmo players have no interest in single player games.

Imagine criticizing a game developer who literally recommends to their customer base put their own needs and desires first. Are you WoW-trolls so jaded and mentally abused by Blizzard that you question a developer who actually cares about their game and playerbase?

FFXIV doesn't crucify you in terms of character progression for taking breaks from the game. We aren't married to it. Our lives don't have to revolve around it. Anyone can unsub, come back in six months, grab the catch up crafted gear off the market board and jump right back into whatever alliance/normal raid is current at the time. Or just continue doing whatever part of the casual content is out.

I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings that your game has crashed and burned into Oblivion, that the developers of the game you've played for countless years ruined both their product and company, but don't come here and spread your trolling nonsense.

He has said this many times.....And frankly, Im happy he and this game dont require my absolute Devotion to accomplish anything...unlike WoW.

Taking a break to play other games is healthy and I can understand why Yoshi would want his player base to be healthy.

Continued subscriptions are good for the company but burn out is not. A heathy and entertained player base is good for the company and profits. It makes perfect sense to me why he would not insist that we just play this game with utter loyalty. I think he accepts the challenge of making us want to come back for more, should we take a break.

LOL even if they did break ffxiv is still an MMO( Massive Mutiplayer Online), the queues can attest to that, and RPG (role playing game). The msq fits that bit. What dictionary are you reading from? Weebster Dictionary?

did you just say Poe doesn't require devotion? Have you even played that game what so ever? you have farm maps +farm up every currency for stuff reroll items like by all that is....

I'm sorry I can't if you claim poe doesn't require devotion something is wrong with you. Idk about the other 2 as they aren't my type of games but i know for damn sure poe requires devoiton and time....

Im not even joking the amount of time that you have to put into poe to complete it every 3 months (Where they release a new arc or w/e they call it) takes at least 2 of the months to complete your atlas

Are some people such slaves to devs that they will play that game exclusively or not just because a dev said to? People do as they wish. Some play one MMO and nothing else, and some (even WoW players) play other games as well. Or take breaks from the game and don't play it at all for a bit. Always have, always will.

Don't be silly thinking people will go do other stuff just because someone tied to the game said it's ok to do so. They will or the won't regardless.

In play a few mmos and always take long breaks, years at times ie (ffxi) but never give them up.

I keep my sub going 100% of the time on ffxi since 2005 ..I love the game and prefer droughts and breaks as my life gets busy and its healthy to break from any game at times.

In WOW I am another very long time player (started in TBC)..I keep sub going but take very long breaks depending on the games content and my life needs (Ion is the bane of wow )

Legacy player for this game too, never a lapse in subscription, and enjoy breaks and droughts in order to simply live life.

For many players, a calm pace in content flow is wanted, needed and hoped for.

If I truly and completely love ANY game, a drought wont matter, being suggested to break would never be a deal breaker.
