The first tier of normal raids are typically pretty simple compared to what comes after. Even so, I'd say the first fights have a bit more going on now than Stormblood's first tier.

Normal is very simple compared to Savage.

I appreciate how the story just gets to the point this time around; no 40 minutes of cutscenes to fight the bad guy. Also, this series feels a lot like Haukke Manor, and I am always up for revisiting that spooky place. We've had Coils, Machines, Extrasolar Scifi, Fanfic headcanon, and finally... we get a spooky tier. I am so fine with that.

What I'm talking about is basing huge chunks of content on it, like those things you mentioned. I mean seriously, an entire expansion based on a previous game and not just any expansion, the end of your 10 year story?? And not original content? They should be embarrassed to do that. So many raids being based on previous games that they actually made a big deal about the 6.0 raids being actually original. Really think about that for a second...they had to brag that their new end of story content is original. Again, they should be embarrassed. Also, playing to nostalgia is a cheap gimmick when you're afraid your original content can't stand on it's own.



Like I said, easter eggs and the occasional wink or nudge is one thing, but they make entire huge chunks of content based on the old games. I honestly don't know of any unrelated games that do it that shamelessly.

I don't think anyone can accuse FFXIV of being original. It pains me to say it but...

I hate that this game spends so much time referencing previous FF games. This is the only FF game I have played and spent any time on and it get so irritating hearing people talk about how cool it is that X is a reference to FF##. Kinda makes those of us who haven't played every FF game since the beginning of time feel like we aren't really in the club. Usually pointing this out gets you a lot of hate from the "great community".

How about new and REAL original content. Not more crap from FF4 or whatever.

Copied nostalgia sells to FF fans, guess they know their audience. Pretty much any other fandom gets pissed if a lot is copied from previous games.

They said the new alliance raid was original, that doesn't change the almost comical amount of unoriginal content already added, including previous raids and trials.

It's still the same formulae as ever: mistakes are punishing as always, do them correctly then the encounter will be a snoozefest.

And that's completely fine, we don't want them to redo their mistake of locking stories behind contents like Coil. That's what Savages are for.

Running them in day 1 was a blast, though.

Except when people are declaring what all the lore is because it was this way in some previous game. Male Viera are the most recent victims of this.

Also, just saying "oh it's new to you" isn't really addressing the issue.

This is ff14 yoshi p say long time ago he wanted 14to be like a theme park that is why their so many references to other ff games.
