MACHINIST [What we could have had, and I would still love to see]

Wow had to go pretty far to find a Machinist thread. A bajillion threads on Monk positionals tho.

Anyways I was just watching a YT clip of Denki vs. Tsubaki on Boruto, and I was wondering for a while how they were gonna make Denki interesting let alone a combatant. Long story short he got an exoskeleton. Now, I see this idea brought up here like a Gundum or form change like Reaper and honestly I’m here for it. When I looked into if Mch got any new noteworthy abilities to ya know fill some of those empty button spots I was sorely disappointed.

Admittedly I still do need to bring it to 90, but I’m not sure if I’ll have fun with it over doing Bard. I kinda wish the never took out Bishop Autoturret, and have to wonder if we’ll ever get a King. My head cannon is that the LB turret that lasers everything is Knight. It would have been dope to have an ability called like “Coronation” or something like King, where you and your Queen fuse as she becomes your exoskeleton. I feel especially because Mustadio’s Lucavi appearance that this would have been an appropriate direction for Machinist, but also increase the job’s popularity as its probably the least played that ever see out of all. An exo is especially perfect because it fits the idea of what giving a gun to a normal citizen did for the people of Ishgard. That person who is physically weak can become strong through technology.

I was also hoping we could see a few different models for our queen, like Egi glamour, but since that system hasn’t been touched I won’t hold my breath for it.

imo, I would have preferred Queen to be ranged, like the flying turret... with a plasma cannon attack and a huge beam as the ender. Woulda been cool. Seems silly to throw in a "melee element" on a job that was ranged from the start. RDM has it as a core mechanic, but I don't know why they did what they did for Queen. *shrug*

It's effectively just a DoT, and it can be applied from range. It's no more "melee" than is Bio. If it were to lose ticks due to intervening geometry, that would be an issue, but not one that quite makes it, a DoT, "melee".

As for why that DoT has that particular skin, look no further than mecha anime. The punchy giant bipedal robots have a lot more star power than would an aerial support cannon.
