your looking at it as a picture..... what you need to do is look at it from the materials
you'll see that they are the right models

do they match no.... but i don't think they were ever ment to a true set
Valid point; the synth for the cobalt haubergeon does require mythril plates. Hard for me to believe, however, that the artists that did the recolor intended the set to reflect as it does in-game (simply for the fact that the two sets match much better with the swapped pieces).

On a side note... The cobalt barbut will never leave my Lancer's head.

The recipes make sense. The problem is that cobalt and steel are exactly the same color.

Editing for clarification: Its fine that these two metals look nearly the same. "The problem" is that the OP is confused because theyre the same color, not because cobalt or steel or anything is supposed to look this way or that.

This would be the full Cobalt Haubergeon set (Barbut/Hauby/Mitt Gauntlets/Sollerets)

You might notice that the haubergeon and sollerets look a little out of place.

Lets look at the Mythril Haubergeon set now (Barbut/Hauby/Mitt Gauntlets/Sollerets)

    Looks pretty good right?

Well... Let's swap out the Mythril haubergeon and sollerets for the Cobalt versions.

    Matches much better, doesn't it?

Now.. last but not least; let's reverse it and go with Cobalt Barbut, Mythril Haubergeon, Cobalt Mitt Gauntlets, and the Mythril Sollerets.

Matches MUCH better than the whole Cobalt set together.

What jumps out at me is that the models for the haubergeon and sollerets must have been mixed up at some point. What do you all think?

P.S. Hopefully I successfully hid these images during this post; did not want to flood the thread with gigantic images.

EDIT: Images swapped for better cropped versions.
If you look closer at the color of the mail of both Haubergeons and look at what makes what in the the recipes, they're not.

Cobalt = the armor has a metal gray colored mail
Mythril = The armor has a blue colored mail

and the recipes give it away as well ->

    Cobalt Haubergeon:
Cobalt Rings (x3) <- color of the mail on the armor (Metal Gray)
    Undyed Felt (x1)
Mythril Plate (x1) <- Color of the reinforcement on the arms/shoulders (Blue)
    Boar Leather (x1)

    Mythril Haubergeon:
Mythril Rings (x3) <- color of the mail on the armor (Blue)
    Undyed Woolen Cloth (x1)
Steel Plate (x1) <- Color of the reinforcement on the arms/shoulders (Metal Gray)
    Aldgoat Leather (x1)

after, yes, the rest of the set looks dumb and is miss-matched if you compare it to the Hauby which is the main item :/

yes, the blue on the Mythril Hauby is light... not really surprising if some people see it gray.

lets not event start talking about the red or blue cobalt plate set with no red or blue belt. At least these sets have all the pieces.

shouldn't Mythril be grey colored and cobalt blue? ...seeing as the cobalt is just another word for ...blue.

    Cobalt Celata:
    Cobalt Plate (x2)
    Mythril Rings (x1)
    Electrum Ingot (x1)

so why aren't the barbut plates blue?

    Cobalt Mitt Gauntlets:
    Steel Plate (x1)
    Cobalt Plate (x1)
    Cobalt Rivets (x1)

    Raptor Leather (x1)

Who the hell decided to make cobalt a silver colored metal?

    cobalt steel isn't blue though,
cobalt is just an element added to steel to change its properties its mostly used for tools like drill bits IRL

Cobalt is an element that makes GLASS blue.

    But cobalt is not blue.

I think the other problem is that these armors we have matched up arent actually a proper set. The cobalt chain coif with mythril plate shovel-face is part of the haubergeon/ solleret set. This set doesnt have hands. The Barbut and Mitt Gauntlets are made with cobalt and steel unlike the other armors and are kind of odd balls. They match each other in thier own mini head/ hand set but we are sort of shoe horning a things together here in the OP.
