It’s like they aren’t even trying anymore. I think they’ve lost all feeling of caring about glams in general tbh. Now they’re just making things gender neutral and boring and reusing everything. It’s sad.
I agree on basically everything in this thread.
Though the only question left open is; how much time did it take to refit exisiting gear on male Viera/female Viera/ Hrothgar (and even female Hrothgar soon).
Designing new gear and glamour does consume a lot of time. And if Im not mistaken, people from mod communities already mentioned this.
We should also not forget, AF gear sets exist as well. Some of them look amazing. (subjective)
I just hope, the crafted battle gear will be some not-used glamour yet. Ivalice gear still has no dyeable option.
Can the glamour restriction on all gear just be lifted already? Since most people's arguments on that are usually: "But the devs will be lazy and constantly recycle gear!" When that is already happening now anyway.
I'm not all that shocked. I'd love to see more unique sets of course. But with the job count going up every expansion, that's more overhead for every single expansion that gets bigger and bigger.
2.0 had what, nine jobs?
3.0 had 13.
4.0 had 15.
5.0 had 17
6.0 has 19. (Plus, male and female dancer being different designs.)
On top of more races to fit every set onto.
My other issue is tbh, while reusing gear is an issue, they’re also reusing music as well. Can’t blame races on that. The fact is though there were signs of this even in ShB. They only added 2 new jobs same as sb, yet they couldn’t even give said new jobs any primal weapons, when sam and rdm got 50/60/70 primal weapons. Did 2 jobs added really make the count of all those weapons go down to 0? Also again, they’re getting more money, they’re getting more players, with all of this should come hiring more devs to work on the game. They’ve had almost 3 years now from ShB launch to hire new people. What’s the issue.
I'm sure they'll blame it on covid, but that's a weak excuse for weaker people. I'd have a lot more respect for them if they came out and just said "yeah we were being lazy"My other issue is tbh, while reusing gear is an issue, they’re also reusing music as well. This was one of the more disappointing aspects of EW to me, honestly.
It's kind of a "start of expansion tradition" of mine to go to the MB and cycle through everything that's available there up to the new level cap for my primary job and see if I want to start working towards building some new glam sets, in addition to researching the dungeon set looks online as best I can at the start of an expansion. To see so much that I had already seen before meant that I had nothing that was "better" than the current glams I was using, in most cases, in my opinion. That means there's less to work towards after MSQ completion and less ways I can look forward to improving my character.
This is especially frustrating to me in light of all of the armor set design competitions they've hosted over the years. Even if it were a dearth of creativity problem in terms of designing new sets, they have literally hundreds that the fanbase has designed for them over time that they could pull from and iterate to design an entire spread of <level>/<dungeon>/<crafted>/etc. gear around. I'm fairly sure most people who submitted their designs even all that time ago would still be THRILLED to have them implemented into the game even now - or ever. The only conflict I could think of in terms of implementing this kind of thing would be if they maybe didn't have enough staff that could actually do the digital design and modelling for the sets. I know they've mentioned before that hiring isn't as easy as people might assume it would be, since they need people with rather specialized skills, so I wonder if maybe the portion of the team responsible for this kind of thing is "down people" or couldn't handle the workload of modifying the existing gear for the new genders/races on top of creating new gear, despite the lengthy release date delay for the expansion.
Either way, I remain greatly disappointed about the lack of new cosmetic options for us, this expansion. This is an aspect of the game that I enjoy, and to have it have been so clearly neglected this time is frustrating.
As far as new crafted options are concerned, they usually add new recipes alongside the new raid initially. So we will potentially see some more options added tomorrow, or at the latest when Savage is released. The new treasure dungeon drops tomorrow which usually adds some exclusive drops and materials, so I would put money on it happening sooner as opposed to later.
Yeah, I feel like they put way too much emphasis on their narrative at the cost of other content one expects to find in an mmo. It's a death knell to longevity in some regards.
I'm going to counter that with 6.0 being the end to so many story threads that this initial portion of the expansion had to be narrative-rich to finish things off. I'm hoping this means they'll put more resources into other aspects of gameplay for the rest of the 6.X cycle while giving us some good set up MSQ tidbits going forward.
If you mean that they put too much emphasis on narrative on the whole, I'll need to disagree. The game's always been story-driven with the other things expected of MMOs being additional, if important, content. I don't believe we're seeing a death flag that's foreshadowing the beginning of the end of the game.
