Mostly I've seen people tell others we don't need ANOTHER thread. There are plenty, and past actual interactions with community managers have told us the longer and more interactive (likes) a thread is the more likely it gets passed up to people who can do something about it. So maybe we consolidate our grievances instead of thread #23598 of "omg I can't get in cause I have a job".

What we need is a mod who knows how to use the merge thread. They have done it in the past. In fact they should have just stickied "Something problems" and just dumped everything in there. Even if it happened once a day.

Hope they start doing server resets more often,even each day, as this looks to help. Not onlly it kicks afkers

Afkers are causing issues but most people online are actually playing. At least on my server the queues are super low after midnight and up until around 10 am. 99% of those online during the day go to bed at night. Daily resets are going to hurt far more legitimate players than afk bots. I don't think we should have them unless we really need them.

It will hurt. There is absolutely no doubt that it will hurt. Although, this might open up the niche for XIV streaming. Now that the servers are completely locked down, the only way interested people will have to check the game out is through streamers.
Wouldn't be surprised if some streamers decided to do New Game+ streams to showcase story for those that cant play.

Having too many players is a wonderful problem for them to have, but the sale stoppage is definitely going to hurt their bottom line for a little while.

Counter-arguement: Suspending new sales basically until "congestion eases," knowing the only real solution is new hardware, is probably not something they'd be doing if they expected that new hardware to be years out.

I have a few friends still in IT ( well, contractors DO network ya know ), and I am hearing that the shortage is being - slowly - addressed, as more plants gear back up, get back staff and get back into production, trouble is that its a LONG process for manufacturing.

Look at it like a huge 300,000 tonne freight ship thats been in harbour for ages, they can get the engines going, but it takes a LONG time to get back to full speed

I'll choose to be optimistic (for now) and believe they'll have something lined up hopefully by summer some time.

Best estimates say by summer the semiconductor process will be back and running, and will be addressing the ginormous backlog. But IT WILL TAKE TIME. Making those chips and semiconductor components is a finicky procedure.

They just dont roll off the assembly line, its horribly complicated.

As to the "stopping sales will hurt them" point, well yeah it'll hurt their revenue forecasts some, but they oversold subs by a longshot anyway. They certainly aren't hurting for revenue per serviceable account ratio. Yeah yeah, chip shortage, covid, the tooth fairy, whatever, we get it. They still oversold what the servers could reliably handle. Hence, we have 2+ hour login queues lol. I'm not complaining, just pointing out a sad fact. They definitely are trying, and that is worth commending. <3
