So condescending. OP getting the flags means nothing if his team is off fighting over the empty space over in nowhere.
Haven't seen anyone mention the fact that we are in the beginning of an expansion. Frontline roulette gives exp. Most FFXIV players don't care for PvP, so a lot of these players aren't actually there for the win/mount, they're there for exp.
I had actually forgotten how bad PvP is at the start of an expansion (since they added exp), until I played 2 Seal Rock matches and went "ah crap, that's right." I'm noticing a lot more afkers and botters. Plus the general bad play, which isn't fixable with callouts/leadership, because these players aren't willing to follow in the first place.
Frontline was better before the addon, people don't wanna miss their daily EXP roulette from frontline atm, was the same in the addons before.
Played 1 sealrock, asked my healer if he is healing after my 8th death, got told by another player in the party that I get reported for that and I should stop being toxic. So you can definitely have fun still.
No Onsal its actually better than Fields of Glory and Borderland ruins, like 10000% better than the two WORST pvp modes ever created.
In Onsal you can have proper backup and you can see when one of the alliances tries to hit yours from behind, the RNG isn't that bad like in Shatter or Seal Rock.

One person can't really influence Frontlines all that much. I'm a mid-high tier PVPer according to my k/d/a ratio but its a total roll of the dice whether or not I win a 72-person cat herding session.
I mean Frontlines being what it is, it's 90% down to matchmaking rng, whether or not you get good teammates, or bad teammates.
A 33% win rate is average.
So even if you were doing something wrong, the rest of your team would have to be bad as well.
So you must be doing something really wrong. Maybe just... don't engage the enemy at all..
I will occasionally (maybe one in every five games or so) queue with friends, but for the most part I queue for Frontlines solo. I play at least 25 games a week and consistently have a weekly win (1st place) rate of over 40% (with thousands of FL matches played in total). Although it can be more difficult for one person to sway the match results towards a victory, that is not the case in terms of causing your team to lose. If you're a feeder, you will cause the enemy team to quickly accumulate battle high, which will snowball out of control in no time, especially in Onsal. Sadly, most players don't even know about battle high, what it does, how to get it, etc. At the bare minimum, in a full-length Onsal match, if you're a DPS, you should be doing at a bare minimum 500k damage; if you're a healer, you should generally be healing at least 1 million HP in that same time. After a match, sort by damage / healing and see where you were at. If you're not on the first page, it means that you didn't do so well that game. If you're dying more than 3 times per match, unless your damage / healing output is insane (or unless you're really pulling your weight as a tank), you're generally doing something wrong. So many of the games I play end up with DPS who died like 11 times and did only 50k damage during the entire match. If you're one of these people and are wondering why you cannot win more matches... well.

Sometimes you lose, some times the others win!
Don't let it get ya down!
Ruminating on Seal Rock's 100 victories achievement for the Field Commander outfit.
70 more wins to go :c
